How about an authentic price? Back in the day of those pumps, what would it be? maybe 45 cents? Maybe less?
What decade was this model in use spacekdet? Interesting! |

This is really well done. My only suggestion is that since you have distressed the metal on the pump case and the pump handle you might distress the metal on the caps on the gas cylinder a bit more. |

Very nice!
Haven't seen one of those in years!
The city ordinance required back those days that gasoline stations be decorated as private residences.
Don't think any of those are still around, but there are still some in the City Museum, along with a complete mechanic's garage. |

Critic !
the red pumping arm don´t fit to the oldstyle column. (to clean for it)
The spigot dosn´t look metalic.
The Column material looks a bit like somewhat else than metal.
A rusty metal shader could look more realisric material.

Modeling looks okay. |

I agree with the rusting... You either need to pain the column or give it some rust.
Price of gas back then was outrageous! About 5 cents a gallon. |

Appreciate the C&C.
It helps counteract the 'I've stared at this so long it must be done' syndrome.
Not sure of the actual vintage of the pump, I've not really tried to make a particular model. ... " It's Olde Stuffe " ...
I agree that some of the texturing needs tuning up. Will do.
Thanks. |

I concur, SPECIAL OFFER! ACTUALLY BELOW $2.00/GALLON!;)
(Prices these days are ridiculous! Not sure about you guys in the UK, but here in the US it's almost $4.00!) |

If my working is correct we (in the UK) pay the equivalent of ~$9/US Gallon. |

Price today 12.84 sek/liter and been above 12 for well last half year or so.
Goes up and down just a bit, beforeit could change quite much in a short time.
My theory is they keep it high, allways ;)
Hemulin, guess we're quite close then, started to count but ahhahahha, if I'm correct US is half price compared to here.
And offcourse it's way to high everywere, I'm not starting a debate of US compared to other but fun to compare...

American prices are lower because they don't have as much tax on petrol as Europeans. In Sweden, where your price was from, we also pay VAT on the tax when it comes to gasoline... I think that I have heard that the price without taxes would be around 5.40 sek/l without taxes with todays prices.
Personally I go by bus. ;) |

Very nice texturing and the lighting and colors together give it the right atmosphere. The only thing I would change is the hook that holds the nozzle. It looks like a cloth hanger and that it will break off after a few fill ups. A sturdy hook that will secure the nozzle a bit more would be my suggestion.
One liter unleaded here is 1,60 euro at the moment, so 6,80 per gallon, more than 10 US $. I always take the bus :)

Looks excellent Spacekdet! :) It looks much better with the added rust. I also think this render is much nicer, dulled down a bit. Very good sir! :) |

Looks as good as ever, liked the last picture as well.
Now Georg, that takes the price I think.
Weee have a Winner!
Price went up to 13,19 = same amount of €, they allways aim for a high price by summer time.
May I ask were you're located?

Something was bothering me about the pump.... then It hit! I looked at some pictures of antique gas pumps, and you've gone and hung your gas nozzle on the hook designed for the air hose! the hook-system for the gas nozzle goes on the same side as the gas hose connector.
Also, they didn't introduce the combined air hose until the pumps started being square, so this is a combination of eras you have. Not too bad for all that though. See if you can move the nozzle to the other side, and add the air hose to THIS side and it would look very believable. |

Wow, what a fantastic model. You've also done a tremendous job with the textures; wish I could get my stuff to look half as good. The only thing that I can think of that might enhance it is some signs that its been well used. What I mean by that is that all the fading, discolouration and rust you've applied to the model are all caused by the passage of time. However, what springs to my mind when I see your image is the dirty, oily mechanic\attendant who would have pumped the gas for you back in those days. So perhaps some stains\spills\hand prints might add to the overall effect. |

Alright, once more, with feeling...before I stick a fork in it and call it done.
Kena: I've seen the pump nozzle/handle hanging on either side, or the front, so I'll leave it where it is for now. I remodeled the hanger to a ring rather than a hook. The greasemonkey also came by and left a couple handprints. Thanks for everyone's feedback and comments.

Great job spacekdet! That should fetch a pretty penny in an Antique Action given it's great condition. :) |

That's it, I think you've really nailed it this time! I especially like the remodelled hanger - don't know why but it just seems to fit. Great job spacekdet and I'm really looking forward to seeing your next piece. |
