Hello all,

After seven and a half months of modeling, texturing, and rendering I have finished my current and last project with TS 5.2. Representing the Mazda 787B LeMans race car, winner of the 1991 LeMans was #55, with car #18 finishing in 6th place.

This model (all SDS) contains 416,048 polygons and was modeled completely with 5.2, UV mapped with Unwrap 3D 2.23, rendered with both Lightworks and VirtuaLight, and used Photoshop Elements 2.0 for postwork. There are 2 final body meshes, car #55 and car #18 (each modeled from a cube primative) consisting of 96,632 polys. There are also four texture sets, two VirtuaOut textures and material sets, and two for LightWorks with the main body textures at 2048x2048 for both. Now with TS7 on the way (from the January contest) I'm really looking forward to testing some new renders of this model. :)

Very nice work. You know, despite all the nice renders and shots I really like the artistic/drawn look of that top image. Reminds me of a concept sketch..

Still, all excellent work here..you deserve your TS7 even if you did beat my entry....;)

Thanks,

The illustration was my favorite render as well. :) The original image size was rendered at 4000x3000 taking about 93 minutes.

Below is a GI render made with VirtuaLight (1280x960 at 90 minutes).

Nice work, definitely the top image with the sketch type effect gets my vote.

Sweet lookin' wheels Dude! I prefer the second image - carr 44 with the black background - this will look even better rendered with HDRI in tS7 - congrats on your win!

D'oh! That should read 'car 55' - teach me for typing in the dark and not looking at what I'm typing!

That top "sketch like" render is pretty good for TS5.2, in fact its pretty good for any version.
If you're rendering stuff like that in 5.2 I can't imagine what you could do in 6 or 7

Don't you mean I can only imagine what you could do...?

Mr. Voisey will be most unhappy-I can't imagine what he would say...;)

Thanks for the nice comments,

BTW: My TS7 arrived via FedEx, and I am getting it setup this week. So far I like what see, especially the HDRI and the speed increase of Lightworks! Maybe in a few days I can have some TS7 samples of this model to post! :D

Now back to the 787B, here is a render of the wheels along with a few wireframes. The last image is the wire of the body mesh which is all one piece from a cube primative (even the windows and the mirrors are molded in).

Not if it's beyond the scope of his imagination. ;)
