These images are really great, I particularly like the one at night.
I presume you'll be entering these into the CaliGalleries:jumpy: |

The night scene gets my vote. Very nice work, Dave. One suggestion: the car should be sharper overall as it falls into the same plane of focus as the 2 columns at the gate (columns are so much sharper in contrast). Depth of field can be overdone in 3D: in a real photograph, I would set the camera on a tripod and set the aperture down to f16 for a sharp image overall... |

I agree, though I do think the DOF helps the image, looking at it again, the car does look a bit too blurred. |

The shadow on the boulder in your lastest night scene is not on your previous image. |

For some reason I like the 2nd night render better (is the shadow on the rock coming from the frame of the light?); either way removing the trees/bushes was the right move IMO.

Yes the shadow is from the little light in front of the rock, it wasn't one the first because I rotated it a bit, is it distracting? Oh by the way thanks Behzad for your suggestions regarding the lanterns. Really helped out. |

Thanks i_maker, I know what you mean, I rendered the image again, this time with depth channel, I will use that this time to add the blur. |

Don't be sorry for something you post in the WIP section. Work in progress means that there might be something to improve. Even the CG-Talk Choice Gallery shows images that have things to improve. |

Ok, I made the blur settings more subtle using the depth channel rendered using Ipak and used photoshop to add the blur, as well as some little tweaks here and there.
Thanks for everyones help.
Cheers, |

It's perfectly balanced, now. Please no more tweaking! All the elements are in their plausible positions. Dave, you have succeeded in creating an image that conveys atmosphere, mood, feel... Excellent work. |
