Some major work-arounds and ample applications of stubborness and perseverence have lead to this final image. The buildings, characters, vehicles, ships, and so on are almost all derived from earlier work of mine. The Dirigible (airship) is one of the first large models I made and was originally textured in tS 3.2. Much of the other stuff was built and textured with tS 5.1. The image was composed and rendered in tS 6.6. Many of the models had high res textures because they were originally seen from much closer. As a result I kept consistently running into insufficient memory problems on my oldish computer. trueSpace was happy enough with all the geometry but my machine choked on the huge amount of textural data so I had to exert some cunning to get to this final result. The picture you see here was rendered in 4 sections - the left side without the right, then the right side without the left or the foreground lighthouse and ship, then the foreground lighthouse and ship without most of the other models. Finally I made a Z buffer render using CK's excellentZRender.tsx I then took all my renders and combined them in layers in Ability photopaint and there it is. There's lots of ways I could have got around the memory problem, mostly obviously by retexturing everything with lower resolution textures but I'm fairly pleased with the end result. As always I'm keen to see any comments or critiques and I'd like to offer my thanks to all those who made helpful comments on this project as a WIP. I've tried to take most of them into account and your input definitely helped to keep me motivated so thanks y'all. :D I hope you enjoy it!
