A few comments. The missiles seem too slow and seem to impact in slow motion. The smoke cloud should be blasted out a bit later, as a result of the impact and explosion. The debris looks too simple and big. Give it a texture with alpha channel and vary it´s size.

I wasn´t reading through all the posts and don´t know which plugin you are using, but for this kind of work I highly recommend PPFX 1.0 from Primitive Itch. It gives you lot of control about appearance and behavior of all the particles. http://www.primitiveitch.com/pub/


I´ve attached a tS6.6 testscene with kind of an explosion made with PPFX 1.0 (plugin must be loaded before opening scene). I have lost the original textures and chosen the ones that come with the plugin instead, but it´s not too bad. Check it out to get some ideas.
