Well, Madmouse, that looks really fantastic. I love the humor in this composition. The highest compliment I can offer is to make this image the background on my desktop, which I have already done. I must say this is definitely a very strong inspiration to me to keep improving my 3D skills. Thank you for the post! :jumpy:

I hope you submit this to the CaliGallery. And hey perhaps add this to your demo reel! Look out Pixar!

Hay Steve!

This one is great! Some interesting things going on with tS7 and it seems like EVERYONE is using it but me!!!! I'm not even sure I know what you're talking about with your render method.

Poor little guy, he just wants to push her buttons:D An embarrassing moment we've all experienced, but I'm surprised that no one picked up on your original Q&A. (te-he) (too true:p)

Polite? You mean as in respect for the elderly...? [the joke] :p

Don't get me wrong, I think the image is great, & amusing, but the joke itself...? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alien42/smilies/ancient.gif

I don't like the way they list almost every piece of software except trueSpace. I mean, is Bryce really better than tS (I know it probably has a bigger user base)?

Yes indeedy, One of the reason I don’t frequent many other CGI forums is because I don’t like the way TS users are treated like the poor relatives, and it really makes me steam when someone posts a comment like  'this is really good for a trueSpace render' But then again I suppose if we don’t post on other forums how will the unenlightened learn exactly what TS is capable of  sigh!!

Agreed, good to see you over at CGtalk and thanks for signing my guestbook. I have added you and Daybe to my favourites. Perhaps other TS users might visit and drum up some interest in tS....;)

Next time your there please do the same. I'm starting to feel like an Apostle!

Since I'm not in the big league like you guys, I use my little miniscule Avatar space to show my work. So far my audience is crickets and snails but I'm working my way up! Sorry to hear about your shortage of underpants.....

When I grow up I want to be small and infamous.;)

LOL! Not at you, but how true the comment really has been for several years. TS has been a poor second cousin for along time(ts6.0 finally got near lw 5.5 which came out in very early '99), but maybe future versions of it will turn it around by 2010. I know because I've been involved with MAX, MAYA, & LW based forums since I've started 3D and people simply go where the tools are! So no tools, no players! But don't worry even the top professionals get bumped to the 3-5 pages if they don't continously update thrier WIP threads.;)

*on the piece*
It's so very tradional in nature, student level stuff, that it's actually fairly flat in appeal. Needs a coupla' colored lights, a key light, a background, a slightly different perspective, and slightly more details. It's kinda like taking the background, warm lighting, and some perspective out of the Poker Dog paintings. Yeah the foregrounds dogs are nice and detailed, but it's make-up is off without a background and good lighting. Scene set-up is everything, but every picture always tells a story it's just how the story is delievered. The story I get is "First Attempt.". But overall it's an interesting idea that just needs more polishing.

Great texture work btw! :D

So your professional work is posted on the Max, Maya, LW and TS forums for us to see? I would love to see what you can do.

Yes, as soon as that artist at 3D World adds in some background, his image will be finished too. I wonder why they posted a WIP, first attempt, student beginner image as their cover?

I think it is great, and that the stark white background is perfect ;)

Good on ya for making the effort to get your great work out there Steve. And FWIW you're not the only one who doesn't like the way the furums at CGTalk work. Maybe I'm spoiled or just set in my ways but... their pages take forever to load on a 42 Kbps dial-up connection and when they finally finish loading theres WAY too much info, way to much clutter and from what I've seen, way too much ego in some cases!!

I usually strive to put a positive spin on most things but I found navigating that forum to be an exercise in frustation - to the extent that I'm appalled that a forum/group/society intended for the support and expansion of the CG artists community should be so ... well, clunky!

Oh and Chrono - just as a suggestion perhaps you could google 'tact'.
