I love it, great work. Personally I like the color version myself. Nice detail with the vegetation. |

Cheers lads :)
Here are the layers I rendered and composited in Paintshop Pro 7. It was a real pain, have to get Photoshop (or try Gimp).

Well that should fuel the 'how much PS in gallery' argument again..;) |

Nope not from me, it's allowed.
Graysho, this render went right up the charts as one of my favorites. Very well done!

I can't comment on Gimp, but I can tell you PSP9 is better for layers than PSP7 [& way cheaper than Photoshop], if you can still find anywhere that's got it. 10 looked good but had some annoying bugs, although that was soon after it came out, so they might have been fixed/patched since then. Not tried 11 yet. |

Very Cool, I expecially like the light inside. It seems to make the image more eerie. |

Yeah baby yeah! Now that's a great picture. Work like this reminds me why I love trueSpace so much - although I never forget that!
This a masterful piece of work Graysho and I've enjoyed watching it progress - Well done |

Great work GraySho! Was very cool seing how you put the layers together. Thanks for posting that too!
I have PSP 9 (*huge* improvement over 7), but I switched to GIMP because it worked better with my tablet...
GIMP's a bit odd and takes some getting used to, but I forced myself to do it and I'm not regretting it. Layers, custom brushes, lots of free plug-ins out there for it... pretty much can do anything PS can do. Not to mention it has a great price.... :D
You still need a good vector package for doing illustration and concept stuff... I've been putzing around with Inkscape and so far it looks pretty fun:

I'm very glad you all like it, it took quite a while to complete, though not everything made it into the final render. Thanks.

Does PSP 9 have channels? If not I'm not interested. I've watched Parva's Multipass rendering course, and simply couldn't do (some of) that stuff in Paintshop Pro. I'm gonna try GIMP anyway. |

Err.... haven't the foggiest. :o Maybe j_edwards can answer that 1. There is a feature that mentions channels, but whether it's what you're on about or not... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alien42/smilies/dunno.gif
If you mean being able to adjust the levels of Red, Green, or Blue in an image... I think so, but I'm not really an expert in 2D [or a lot of other things], I just tend to learn what I need to, as & when necessary.
From PSP9 help file:Use the Channel Mixer command to increase or decrease the red, blue, or green colour channel by a percentage of itself and the other two channels. Use this command when you want to adjust colour channels individually.
Also:When you split an image into its RGB, HSL, or CMYK channels, Paint Shop Pro creates a greyscale image for each channel. Use one of these channel images to create a mask for the original image or another image.
Any of that sound like what you're looking for? |

I see that your rendering made the Gallery and it's placement is NOT where it should be. I like the two that won a lot. I think you just had stiff competition. This was one of my all time favorite TS renderings done. I hope you create more for us because I've learned a lot from you already!

Perhaps I might not have hit the criteria for a gallery winner. Anyway, congrats to the winners, well deserved. That won't stop me from trying again ;) |

I have to agree with Steinie. As soon as I saw your finished picture the first thing I thought was "ahhhh *%$^&". It's a beautiful image and I'm surprised it's not in the top two. Yet secretly pleased as well! It's an odd feeling. |

Time to move on to something new. After the long break I just felt I had to show this scene from a closer perspective. Done and rendered in tS6.6. Next will be something tS7.6 related. |
