I'd like to put forth a possibility... Does everyone remember how Buzz (Hans Zjiffers (sp?)) always used to tell us to keep those less fortunate in mind during the festive season? Well, Splinters seems to have done the same. Perhaps they've been the same person all along and Splinters saw TS 7's new forums as the perfect excuse for Buzz to disappear off the face of the Earth? :O
(Just kiddin', but I do miss his artworks, they were tremendous!) |

Alien, you read my reply wrong. He's not the same person as "Splinters" but both had the same message.

Steinie, I like the "money" on that Christmas tree of yours, it always makes for a great gift! I also see that you are a fellow New Jerseyan south west of myself up here in good ol' Maplewood.
Prodigy I got a chuckle out of your image reflection, I hope that is not a self-portrait. |

Most of you don't know that I am a Cartoonist. I always wished that 3D would come to me as easily....it doesn't. What takes me minutes to do with a pen and pencil takes me hours or days in TS. So with that being said I hope you allow one heavily PS work into this thread. I stuck a little TS work in there to keep it legal.
I've been hand drawing my own Christmas Cards since 1969. I just wanted to share my work with you all. Happy Holidays.
p.s. For Christmas I wish Prodigy a good Dental Plan....;)
p.p.s My photo is on the phone, I'm in the last row second from the left....:) |

I make a trueSpace picture as a Christmas card each year. The card is customized for each recipient. This one was for 2002. |

This was my Christmas card for 2003. Each picture is customized with the recipient's name on the Nice list.
I updated it for this picture by adding translucency for the flames and candles, adjusting the lens flare/glow effect, and changing the curtain texture.
I planned a whimsical Santa style design for the room and to add toys to the scene. I didn't have time for that.
Santa's hand has an animation skeleton so the fingers can be moved. This allowed me to position the fingers to hold the pen. I used the Hair plug in to grow the two thousand fur filaments of Santa's cuff on a torus.
Happy New Year! |

Nice work Finis! I like the Aurora Borealis in the window too, nice touch. I don't think all the members are nice though....of course I'm looking in the mirror....;) |

Nice work Finis - I too like the aurora. The globe of the world is a nice touch too - I can imagine Santa using it to plan his route. Unusual to see Santas house represented with such modernist windows but hey, even he needs to ove with the times right?
I like the candle too - they are not easy to get right in my opinion. The only other point I can make is to point out that you are being a little "hemispherist' with your year clock - the southern half of the world celebrates christmas in the summer time![ |

Looks nice heidi,
You should try making the pine cones and firs with the hair function.
Might look better with your keen vray render.

I did explore using hair for the pine needles. But a single branch of the tree came in at around 23 mb so I opted for the alphas. |

I think it's outstanding Heidi !!! Very nice work with arranging and shaping of your branch in different ways and the tedious pine cone layers. I can almost smell the Frazier Fir !!!:)
I've got a scene that I finished a week ago, but it's for the MMC......so I didn't want to expose the final render too soon ! It'll be in here ! |
