Seee... all this great detail was lost when you are only allowed to post one pic in the challenge. The idea of doing a WIP 'tutorial' for the entry will be a Godsend for newbies like me

Great piece of work Prodigy !

Question: how were you able to show the individual keys? Were they seperate pieces, or did you paint the black dividing lines?

Yeah I agree the render you picked didn't show it off to it's best. :(

Great work as usual Prodigy!

Hi Dragneye,

No, are all polygons.. the only texture used on this model is for the wood and for the partiture..

To make the keys are just a cubes and subrtact another cubes with booleans. Then i add more detail to the cubes to get the right look..

About Tutorials,.. i love to make tutorials, :)
im gonna try to make another.. i have few ideas but first i must finish my grass tutorial with the second part.. adding Trees and Flowers..

Regards!

Thanks Jack.. :)

I've search a lot of pictures from pipe organs and i cant find just 1 good picture from a pipe organ.. It's imposible take a picture from a object from that size with lot of details without loose something..

I prefer take a picture from the whole organ than take from the keyboard for example.

Thanks for reply :)

The pen looks great! You used the older software?
What you do in 1 hour mine would say 1 day!:o
You should take the pen apart and show the parts laying on the table rendered too.

Thanks Bob, its all about practice..

And yes, i will make another render to show the separated parts..

About old soft... MMMMMM... what can i say...

I still finding more confortables the workflow from model side.. :o and 7.11 model side with vray was very preaty to work..

But i love Dof and Mapped shader.. so im in the middle..

When i make the ant i feel very nice and i like VERY much modeling Organic things but for strucutres model side rules..

Very nice modeling work, Prodigy. Shows off Product Illustration skills. I would send both side by side to the Gallery.

When I questioned you using older software I didn't mean Modeler but the older version of TS . Why use TS 7.11 and Vray 1.0 instead of TS 7.51 and Vray 1.52?

Nice looking Pen!

Bob, i dont think this img be good for the image gallery, just for my mini lieutenant's blog is ok.. :D

About your second question ..

I simply love Model Side and Vray, in 7.5x the model side has few diferences between 7.11 model side and this diferences sometimes kill my workflow and i back to work in other versions..

Truespace its like a cake... Every version are lvls from that cake, and each lvl has diferent flavors, Sometimes i like to eat from that old levels :D

The pen truly look like a photo! :D

That you modelled the interior parts too reallly shows that you are one of the true Hardcore modellers, with a great eye for details!

Probably share your opinion on the juice. It looks really cool, but a bit too glowing for juice. (The glass is perfect though!)

Could be one of thoose canned orange softdrinks that doesn't contain any natural ingredients ;)

I've spent the last week trying to get a SSS material to look right... and it's difficult... get it right in plain VRay....then turn on GI, the SSS effect increases and has to be tuned..turn on DOF, and again the SSS effect is increased...ah, it's tricky to get it right, and as you said, it can take awhile to render.

Hi Shike, thanks for your reply.

About the orange juice, is not SSS.. ;) looks like but is not, i create similar efect with the Glossy Shader.

I spend about 1 hour tweeking the shader settings to get the best "orange juice" and this is the my best result but you'r right.. is too fluo hahaha..

Shader settings..

For this picture i've use GI, and AreaLight..

LOL ! Wow, if it's Glossy shader instead of SSS, then I'm really impressed! :D

Would newer have thought of using Glossy for a fluid... innovative thinking Prodigy!

hehe... As you can see its not Glossy on the setting reflections, just on the transmision.. Thats why looks like SSS.

Glossy refraction.. when I first saw that setting in tS I was only thinking about slightly rough transparant plastics. So fluid-use was a great tip! :D

I'm already starting to think in my usual "Creepy creatures" way... your way of glossy fluid could be used as a dirty fluid in a bottle containg alien specimen, only showing the fuzzy shape...or a glowing fluid in tubes that go in and out of a creature ;)

Copyright!!!?:D

Great Idea Prodigy and I will be there wearing my Caligari t-shirt, bag of Cheetos and #2 Pencils....where are the babes?...

Depending on who shows up and how many you might want to change the time at other meetings. Consider an hour before the meeting for those on the other side of the pond. Lets see if they want that as an option too.

Oh yea your talented all right, you have a good eye, nice use of color, a super modeler, with layout skills, knowledgeable and the willingness to teach makes you unique. We're lucky!
AND your a Gold Ambassador!!! (do you get a sword or something?...)
