Just a strange "dream image" ... not the first to dabble in this theme of a painting of a painting of a painting of a painting ... but I don't recall seeing it in 3D.

I definitely have too much time on my hands of late when I can sit around contemplating past loves. If there's any subconscious symbolism here, it escapes me. ;)

More NURBs clothing ... wish I had known about that earlier.

A good title for this one could be "Looking to the future". Since each frame is the same thing, you could sub-title it "The more things change...."
Very well done, but I have no Idea how to do nurbs clothing. Any tutorials out there on that?

Just getting into it myself but maybe I could work up something from what I've learned so far.

I didn't think about slightly changing the images; should have shown her walking into the painting. Now THAT would have some subconscious symbolism!

I think it was Thomas Edison that believed that ideas floated around on the "ether" and were available to more than one person at a time. I had not seen either of these previously.

In collage I came up with what I thought was an incredibly ingenious idea that would wow the world. A cube constructed with two way mirror and a light bulb inside intended as a simple way to illustrate the word "Infinity".

Imagine how crushed I was to be told by several classmates accusing me of "lacking originality" that Spencer Gifts in the mall had a similar contraption meant to hang on the wall, called an "Infinity Box" that retailed for about $25.

Oh well ... sometimes good ideas are worth revisiting ... hu?

Yep, it's one of those ideas that's been done many times in many different ways but that just goes to prove that it's a great idea so congratulations to you for thinking of it - especially as you arrived at it independently rather than just copying. That's a big plus point.

I like the image very much, it has an ominous tranquility about it which commands more than a casual glance. I forgot to comment on the pic in my first post, very rude of me so apologies for that.

"ominous tranquility"; an unusual blend of emotions but perhaps an accurate description about the feelings I have for the model for the character. I'm either WAY obvious or you're really very sensitive. There's a little bit of "quiet resolve" in there too but that's as personal as I'll get about that!

Thanks WWotW.

It really was by accident. The girl was supposed to be viewing some other render I hadn't done yet, so I was going to temporarily paste another image to it while I modeled the canvas and easel. On a whim I pasted a test render of this scene and then thought "... what if ..."

So I did come by the image purely on instinct and "happy mistakes".

Besides, I don't think that I'm the only one here that gets inspiration from other submissions. It's not necessarily a bad thing to copy an idea as long as the work is original. I'm fighting the urge to set all other projects aside and do a ship at sea scene; you even inspired me to do an underwater scene a while back.

I don't think the symbolism is all that subconscious - obviously your inner self has a craving for a big flatscreen TV!

I actually thought there was a whole school of art (like cubism and so on) that focuses on infinite regressions, the painter painting the painter painting the painting, but don't quote me on that. (Check out the works of Escher for examples of visual infinity tricks).

Re Thomas Edison - he may have believed that ideas float around in the ether (not surprising given he was a big cocaine user!) but it certainly wasn't his idea. The Hindu's talk about a thing called the Akashic Records which is a sort of universal subconciousness that holds every thought that ever was or will be.. er... thunk. The idea being that great thoughts do not arise within the individual but instead are received from the Akashic Records by any individual tuned to that 'frequency'.

I'm not saying this is 'true' but it does provide a good model to explain how an image can inspire us to tune in to our own unique interpretation of an idea (whether it be infinite regressions, ships at sea or whatever).

Additionally, it is said that all art is plagiarism - that there are only a few archetypal artistic images and everything is an interpretation of those.

I like your picture though - the grecian columns are a nice classical touch. I can easily imagine this image being used as an advert for a flatscreen TV or monitor. It has a sort of sophisticated feel IMHO.

PS, Oh yeah, stop fighting those urges and do a picture of a ship at sea!!
