I'm not sure if the right-most bottle is on the grid or next to it, but you might want to change the angle of refraction. I believe for water, the angle is 1.3333(etc.) so try putting that in the refraction channel.

Good modeling though!

Chuckle! Interesting idea jamesmc. I really like the brand name too - very appropriate seeing as the vast majority of bottled water is no better than the stuff straight out of the kitchen tap!

Thanks for the good catch Methusela, didn't notice that.

Wizard, I got the idea from a joke I heard.

NAIVE is actually EVIAN, a famous bottled water spelled backwards. :D

Depends very much on where you live ;)

Heh. According to a local story, the Springfield Utility Board (Springfield, OR) once bottled their tap water and entered it in a New York taste test just to prove they could do it. (I have no idea where to look to verify this, though.)

I think there was a myth floating around that EVIAN was indeed supposed to be Naive spelled backwards as sort of an inside joke by the Company.

Here in New Zealand the Consumers Institute (who look after consumer rights) commissioned a scientific survey of locally produced bottled water. Water is relatively abundant here and many bottled water companies make a big song and dance about the purity and quality of the water they sell.

I don't recall the details but in virtually every case the bottled water was essentially indistinguishable from the city supplied tap water!

Given that a bottle of 'mountain spring fresh water' can cost NZ$2.50 yet contains the same stuff you can get for free from your tap then the word 'Naive' seems totally appropriate for those who support the bottled water industry.

Of course there's not really anything wrong with bottled water and in many areas with inadequate water supplies it is a very good idea. But in areas with world class domestic water supplies (ie most modern cities worldwide) the buying of bottled water is simply pointless brand name consumerism taken to silly heights by the ... er... more naive amongst us.

Thanks to James for gently pointing this out with your picture (and sorry for hijacking your thread!)

Yes, but it's not 2 to 4 dollars for 16oz either - lol. I use a filter on my tap to get rid of the chloreen taste, but our water is just as good as bottled.

It is where I live! Well more accurately the rates we pay to the local city council Rain include a water levy component. We do not pay for it per quantity however and it's free from many public drinking fountains.

Moist air from the Tasman sea and Southern Ocean drop rain in the Southern Alps where it feeds deep aquifers. The cities water is pumped from these aquifers and is amongst the purest water in the world (or so I'm told).

Er ... well... no, not really! We pay our rates and we use as much water as we like - makes no difference to how much we pay. I guess we pretty much take it for granted and we don't really think of it as paying for pour tap water. Seems as strange as paying for our atmosphere or our gravity!

You paying property tax?...theres your atmosphere. The sewer bill is figured on how much water comes into the house. (what comes in must go out). Don't get me started on how much oil we're wasting manufacturing bottles for "Naive" water. Their still working on how to charge us for gravity.

And how to cut it if you don't pay the bill. :)

If you don't pay your gravity bill they send the 'heavies' round to your place. Gravity Bill Non-payment should not be taken lightly!!!:D

There is indeed such a myth - but a myth it is. Evian is named for the (French) town where the water springs from, Evian-les-Bains.

Actually, I spent some research time in a heavy water facility at the Cyclotron ran by Texas A&M. Not sure I could depict it now with all the National Security thing and all. Was doing a neutron bombardment study back then.
