This is an attempt at making a realistic looking ipod model. Im also trying to go for a glossy magazine look in the rendering, let me know what you think.

Rendered in LightWorks and DOF added in photoshop

Looks pretty good Matski. :)

I did notice that the UV looks a little off on the stop/play button at the bottom of the gray pad.

Also you have aliasing showing in the reflection on the black ipod in the top image.

Pretty good but I find the reflections a little over powering.

Nice model but I find the 'out of focus' iPods in the background are just visually disturbing. Bear in mind that I'm not a big fan of artificial cg Depth Of Field unless it's done just right.

Photographers deliberately utilise DOF to focus the eye on the chosen subject which is in sharp focus - this mimics the behaviour of the human eye. Because your images have such a contrasting background the furthermost iPods don't blend in with it and thus are rather distracting IMHO.

These pics would work far better with no DOF at all because of the contrasting monochromatic background.

I would suggest finding a product display image that you like, that features the degree of DOF you want to work with. Use that image as a reference and try to reproduce the lighting, scale, proportions and DOF using your own iPod models and you should be able to make a good image great.

Looks like it's rising out of the table surface. No matter how smooth both surfaces are, you'd always see a slight gap or shadow line. Would make all the difference I'm sure.

hu guys, cheers for comments, I need to work on these more I think, at the momeny my computer is at my appartment at university, however I have no lessons as I have just found out, and have been spending most time at my parents home, thus im stuck with this laptop incapable of rendering or modelling until I either buy a car to transport my computer back, or talk my father into doing it for me lol
