Hello Brian
by going to one extreme of color (ie: no color) in the foreground, you might want to compensate by creating a brighter light shining thru the door, to create more visual balance; maybe enough light bustin' thru to create rays, like from a sun.
Also, it might balance better if the tree on left lost some color.
Just my 2 cents |

I really like this. There's just one thing that slightly irritates me and that's the rock (or whatever it is) on the left hand side. The way the tree slightly overlaps it the two seemed to fuse into one and you can't see the trunk which I feel I should (or the tree should be properly behind the rock). Apart from that - bravo! |

I'm don't quite see it but does it look better full size? I think you have to click on the image to expand it.

Sorry but no. I really like this pic but the bottom of the left hand tree really jars my attention away from the rest. You can't even see the trunk of the tree even though you can see over the rock. Maybe that'd help? |

I can see that now you've explained it. You shouldn't have to explain it though! Humour me, move the rock forward and to the right a tad? Course, it's your picture so feel free to tell me to bog off! |

I see Wicked's point, and yours Brian. I felt strange actually commenting on another's art, and now know why. EVERY eye's brain sees a 'thing' differently, sometimes slightly, sometimes fully.
As a general statement, Brian, I think the pic is cool the way it is. The character's detailed simplicity lends itself to the tree not having to be technically correct ('the trunk should show'). if you moved it rightish, then more light would show thru from the back and left, ruining the imaginary line between dark and light, and ultimately changing the 'view', 'feel'.
Time to get off the pot and try to figure out how I can d/l one of my works, so at least you guys know where I'm comin' from.
It TRULY is in the EYE of the beholder.
Da question is... tell us when YOU feel it looks right/done.:) |

I agree with WW, but I think the rock needs to be made a bit smaller and also moved to the right a fair bit. The problem she's talking about has to do with the tangents in the image.
I do like the image overall and this is cool work. Great job Brian!

I like that you can't tell which way the figure is headed...into the cold or out of it. |
