I came across a great piece of software called XenoDream, capable of exporting 3D Fractal Meshes. I decided to make one and play with it in TS7.5 in the Workspace and here are some screenshots from the realtime view. It took me ages to play around and come up with this material which is an edited and butchered version of the realtime SSS shader.

Let me know what you guys think

Hi Matski007,

3D fractals are an interesting item for sure. You may want to repost those in 800x600 though before Norm yanks them for being too large for the forums here (which he's known to do).

Xenodream intrigues me as well. I looked into it and a few other 3d fractal programs a year or so ago and Xenodream looked to be the best at that time. Fairly expensive for a fractal program at that time though as I seem to recall.

I use Apophysis a lot myself, but so far it doesn't have 3D export capabilities. I've found additional uses for it's great renders though in various 3D projects, whether as extrude sources, nurbs trimming sources, nurbs projection sources, background images, textures, or lately even as Vray GI reflection images. I even used it for font sources once which I created in apophysis and translated to TTF format with Corel Draw!

Cool thread subject... very unexplored territory in 3D too. Keep 'em coming!

I love Fractals and really like what you did with them. Your rendering reminds me of splattered paint, a cool effect. I'll post a fractal experiment I did in another thread so I don't disturb this one.

There is an interesting texture in ts library called Mandelbrot. It is located in the Objects - Script objects library. I would be curious how it worked with the 3d fractal :)
