I have never been able to create a good "gold" metal with Lightworks. Today, I give a try at Vray and... yesss ! This looks gold :)

Hi Emmanuel,

This is very nice indeed. I too have invested some time in attempting to accurately render gold with Vray and had almost given up when one day I made a very nice discovery.

I discovered a way to render 24 Karat Gold very well with Vray by placing a specific rendered image in the Vray GI channel as an environment image. I think if you try it you will also like the effect a great deal on this coins scene you have here.

I uploaded the image in a Vray thread here a while back so you can copy it right from that post here and try it out if you wish. Here's the post:

I created the Gold Ingots Model and then textured and rendered the scene against a dark contrasting background in Vue d'Esprit4.

As it turned out, that Vue Render served as the best 24 Karat Gold Vray GI environment image I have been able to produce to date, but perhaps you may find a similar approach to creating Vray GI images advantageous as well.
