It was getting to be around the 20th of November when I realised I had nothing organised for the next Calligallery so at the risk of damaging my matrimonial bliss I locked myself in with my computers and came up with these pix, all of which contain elements from earlier pix of mine but are essentially completely new scenes. I've also been exploring the use of wider formats for my scenes.

1st pic; A team of astronauts investigate the cause of a weird glow rising from an ancient crater of a distant, "Strange Moon". LW renderer

2nd pic; "Freecloud" (title inspired by an old Bowie song). An airbourne community comprised of floating platforms held up with helium balloons and giant lifting fans - a variation on a theme from one of the novels that I never got around to writing! LW renderer

3rd pic; This one's a little different - this is a realtime render from the workspace side utilising mostly DX9 shaders. It's a snapshot from a 3d environment I've been dabbling with that still needs a lot of work but I thought it worked OK as a still shot.

As always, any comments, criticisms and compliments gladly accepted and appreciated. Equally as always, I hope you enjoy my work :)

great work, Wizard. The Freecloud is my favourite, with its strange atmosphere. So much detail and things to see in your pictures, especially in pix 2 and 3. Picture 1 is bit less convincing, may have to do with the color and the resolution.

I think pic3 is the best one of the bunch. Amazing that the realtime render looks so much better than the other renders!

If you hadn't told us it was realtime...I'd never guessed it! Looks amazing, and I like the strange landscape. :D

Pic1 and the odd and intriguing formations in the background looks great!

Hm, was abit confused why I also prefer the Realtime even though pic2 contains so many cool things to look at...

Then it hit me, the lighting and shadows in realtime, perfect warm daylight setup and nice shadows that seems to be skylit. Very realistic!

But in Pic2 I don't see any object-object shadows...think that's what throws me off abit.

Still, always love to see your great...dirigbles...dirigles...balloon-lifted-transportation-devices! :)

I'm sorry I've been so swamped with things I missed this thread entirely until now, but I'm very glad I found it, these are great images here, all three.

Instead of telling you the usual about how great they are I decided to share with you what they conveyed to me in a different way. Hope you like it and thanks for taking me there! :)

Scene 1

The camp is struck, all signs of my having been here are fully removed now. Lying outside the rover in the unique safety of this new world in the open gazing for hours at the breathtaking canopy of galaxy rich space was another night here very well invested.

There is a serenety here unlike any other... a spiritual presence... a deep embrace. The vast variety of harmonious and peaceful lifeforms here is more abundant that a billion lifetimes could begin to comprehend. I long for more time here but the pre-dawn mist is rising very fast now and the time to rejoin my mechanical companion is clearly at hand. Turning resolutely toward it I can't help but wonder if one day we may yet discover a way together to truly share such experiences as this without the feeble mechanism of adjectives... there must be a way...

Scene 2

The armada this morning is wonderous. Da Vinci and Verne would be proud to join us here today.

Who says man is not made for the skies? Here the skies and man are one. Perhaps man cannot yet walk upon the beauty of the cloudscapes, but he may certainly find infinite places of rest there for far more than his clumsy feet. There is a "oneness" with planet itself at this altitude much like the oneness one has here with the winds. Together we move on so softly as to not miss a moment of experience.

Scene 3

In the aftermath of The Great War only handfulls of us survived, tiny seeds strewn across tens of thousands of miles on each continent I suppose. I was far too young then to understand, now I'm just too old to understand. The birds seem to understand. I'd be lost without the birds.

When I first found these megalithic hands here reaching out of the Earth toward the heavens they struck me as a fitting statement for all that I have suffered since the War. They reach out like a request in vain, a prayer unanswered, except perhaps by the violence which laid them to rest at last. I had to build here, no other place would suffice.

The broken bridge over the marshes nearby leads nowhere now of course, except to conclusions best forgotten, but the fishing there is good. I'd be lost without the fish.

The rope was a great find. I guess I'll go see what the tide may have brought me today now, anything's possible.

Well I feel so fortunate in having stumbled upon this thread, what a treat to experience

...all three of these images, W!ZARD, thank you! (hope the marital bliss is holding up - I feel sure she understands that you are driven to this creativity, and probably only drags you away to save you from a permanent enchantment ;))

.. and the rich narrative from you 3dvisuals dude! what a delightful response to W!ZARD's images (thanks for the glimpse into your imagination )

I never imagined what doors would open when I purchased tS7.51, and joined this forum last August ^_^

Wow Mark! You have serious and previously unrevealed creative writing skills! You words have captured beautifully the feelings and sense-impressions I was striving for with these pics. Your writings particularly on the third picture sent shivers down my spine they so accurately capture the mood in words I could never have used myself!

I'm touched and flattered that you put so much creative energy into expressing the sense of what these pics evoked for you - I'm very appreciative, thank you.

Butterpaw, thanks also for your kind words and the marital bliss is holding up very well thanks - it was our mutual creativity that bought us together and we a both committed to empowering each other to be all that we can :D - I'm a lucky man, blessed in many ways.

Oh heck, the pleasure's all mine guy, I haven't written anything in a long time and your images really are inspiring so it was just a natural reaction. I guess I really needed to write but didn't know it until it was done! Felt good in fact!

The truth of the matter is though that I tend to explore your images mentally quite a bit every time, whenever I see them. There is that "more awaits you around the corner" depth and quality to them as a rule, it's an integral part of your style I think because I experience it in every one of your images.

Maybe that's why I just knew you would love the design powers inherent in creating scenes one can actually walk through, interact with, and explore once you really started delving into that realm. The fact is your images always did convey that suggestion of a deeply interesting backstory subtly waiting to be richly experienced by the viewers, gently drawing them in. So extending that artful insight and persuasion from the suggestive to the actual was just a natural progression for you I suppose.

As for me, although I can observe it and appreciate it unfortunately I cannot replicate the method myself. I suspect that's due to it actually being an inherent aspect of your unique character rather than a mere method or device one could aquire or learn, at least not without having actually walked in similar shoes over a considerable period of time. It's aged like good wine.

From what I can deduce already from recent still examples of scenes you've now created for immersive exploration via truePlay you appear to be already mastering the art of maintaining that same suggestive quality throughout 3D immersive scenes which you had clearly mastered in rendered images.

Something tells me that exploring an immersive scene created by the one and only W!ZARD will be a genuinely magical experience in fact, and I'm looking forward to that day a great deal. Then one day when we all have our own online spaces interconnected, we'll all be sharing worlds together so very immersive we may never want to leave them, even long enough to eat!:D

Great stuff guy, thanks for the journey as always, it's been a pleasure.;)
