Hi

This image is in a competition so I am not allowed to post it on any other sites, but here is a link to it on CGtalk:

Let me know what you think.

Cool, I like it a lot myself.:)

I imagine the stuffed shirts there may not think much of anything trueSpace there yet (by the time they do trueSpace will be outselling their "industry standard" outrageously overpriced resume-oriented bloated behemoths), but who knows... maybe even there an unbiased objective observation may emerge. Kudo's for trying!;)

I don't know, I have had conversations with guys that work in the industry and none of them ever looked down on trueSpace. They usually tell me if I want to work in a studio to learn something like Maya, but that is only because it is so commonly used. I want to work as an independent freelancer though so I'll use whatever I want. I used to talk to a td from pixar sometimes, and he had a pretty good impression of trueSpace. If anyone at cgtalk is snobbish because they spent 7000 dollars on software, that's their issue. People in the competition seem to be using a very wide range of software though, I don't see anybody be snobbish.

Anyway, my composition is simple, but I'm happy with it, I conveyed what I wanted to.

It seens to be a couple of the moderators over there-they have a 'thing' against

TS.

Which is even more of a joke when you see that they have forums for Blender,Wings, Silo and Vue. Price wise, these are all cheaper than TS or at least have versions that are. Of those four, only Silo has features that can even begin to compare directly to TS. Probably fewer users too. Etc,etc.

I guess it's true-it's who you know, not what you know!

Well, like I said before I really do like what you created here.

I guess my opinions of CG Society were just severely tainted by the whole saga that occured a while back here in the following thread:
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3050 (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3050)

Hopefully times have changed over there, but that left a very bad rift between them and us that a few of us here find pretty hard to forget.

Nevertheless, as Roman pointed out in that same thread we do need to post to galleries outside the forum here regardless of the receptions we receive in doing so, so I hope in time CGSociety will see the light... that it's not the tools which make a genuine work of art, it is always the artist alone.

Of course there is the statement from Roman's latest blog...

"I firmly believe that 2008 will be the year when our new architecture will fully shine making everyone in the industry take notice - and I mean everyone!"

I wonder to what extent that statement is meant? Especially the word "Everyone"

From what I've been able to deduce so far he chose exactly the right word there, I too believe 2008 will be the year "everyone" hears about and takes notice of Caligari for sure.:D

This is gonna be one really great year for us too!:)

@3dfrog -

Sorry for getting a bit off-topic here Dennis, I'm glad you are doing what you are doing though, and it really is a nice work of art in my opinion. Well done!
