Looking great as always (think I remember seeing an earlier version of this a while back) - but how many dining rooms have you been in where you can only see sky out of the window? :p Must be very high up...!
I'm not too keen on the table as it looks a bit chunky/unrefined compared to the general decor of the room which is more 'OAP', somehitng a little classier might look a little better, but it's a pretty minor point and I'm guessing you don't want something too elaborate that would draw attention away from Doris... |

All good points actually but this is nowhere near finished...just experimenting. I am not sure yet if she is actually in a high rise flat...albeit one with delusions of grandeur! :p
As for the table, probably one of those scalloped edge, french polished hideous things. Doris does like her bling a bit!
Cheers. |

I figured that it was probably still in progress, so the comments weren't meant as 'critical', sorry if they seemed that way; I assumed that the table was probably a 'placeholder' or basic model for scale and that you probably had something more ambitious planned - the scalloped table or something along those lines would probably fit the bill nicely, along with some uncomfortable chairs, candlesticks, etc!
Actually, I quite like the idea of her place being an apartment or something in some hideous post-modern high-rise (thinking 5th Element!) that looks huge and horrid from the outside.... as long as you provide the contrasting exterior shot somewhere.... |

Doris' view from her new place was not so pleasant... |

Cheers Steve, as a bona fide member of the site, you shouldn't have to wait long.
I intend to make this episodic with a new page every week or two. That way I don't have to wait a year or more to get the finished thing up.
Additionally, I don't really have to finish it. My biggest concern was how to wrap up the first book...is it when Doris is accidentally launched into deep space, or when she is found 500 years later...or when she starts her new job?
This way I don't have to make those decisions...:D |

Wow, a month passes by so quick.
Anyways, always looking for that particular shot to illustrate a piece of the story. This is Doris watching Earth disappear from the spaceship she accidentally launched...
However, the Earth in the distance is a scorched and damaged version for later in the story...I may use the same scene twice, a sort of before and after.
As always very much a WIP...:D |

Wow...and another month...:(
Still scribbling out key scenes from this project. This is the start of Doris' rooftop house made from the wreckage of her spaceship. Much, much more to do but I am breaking the creative block a bit...:o |

Maybe a collaboration would break the block Steve?
I just wish I had time to do something with you..it was fun last time...:D
As for this, I have forced myself to do it as I haven't done anything in weeks (months?) now. PS3 or a good movie seems to get preference if I can actually stay awake long enough.
Gotta wade back in there I guess....I do feel some pig posters coming on though...:p |

The most difficult thing is to get started again. Once you´re on it again it´s like riding a bike ;)
Nice story Splinters, always liked your illustrations. |
