Hi, I haven't been here in a while, so I thought i'd post my recent work as a poll. I just want to know which everyone thinks these images look better as:

1 - A bunch of roses in a container

2 - A crumpled up piece of paper

well... I voted for the roses, but really, depending on how you texture it, it could be either one. One of those happy things that happen occasionally. :D

and welcome back to the forums!!! Haven't seen a post from you for what? a year or more?

Yeah, i'm sorry about not being here for a while to post my works. I'm a member of so many forums that it's hard to use all of them, even in one week!

I feel so bad now because i'm using Maya and other software more than Truespace, and I basically use Truespace as my game model converter and renderer. That's because I have the GamePak, which makes it easier to import and export models in many game related formats.

I'm hoping to get a summer job soon, and already had the interview. This job i'm going to get is supposed to pay very well (if I even get the job). If I get enough money when or if I get this job, I will start saving up for

3ds Max 2009.

I'm really sorry to all the members of the Caligari forums, because I might be using my other software a lot more than Truespace. I don't want to sound harsh, but I really like Maya better sometimes, and 3ds Max looks really easy and cool, and supports a format that Dark Basic Pro supports. Again, sorry if i'm putting Caligari down quite a bit.

Really, sorry... again, it's just that I have a hard time mostly in animation (facial and full body), in Truespace:o. Despite all the time and effort I put into making animations and models in Truespace, it just is hard for me, plus there isn't as many tutorials (that I could find) for Truespace:confused:. I have an easier time with Maya in animation and modeling. Really, really, reeeeeaaaalllly sorry that I put down Caligari.:(:(:( I guess it's just my preference of software.

Nothing wrong with using Maya. It's the industry standard and it also costs quite a bit more than TrueSpace! So I would hope that most people would find it better! LOL! ;)

I've used Maya and I liked it. But I couldn't really justify the cost of paying for my own personal copy, especially considering that TrueSpace was pretty much overkill for what I wanted to do: game content. So it really depends on your budget and what you need it for.

Where TrueSpace really shines right now is making content for Direct3D and realtime rendering out animations. Also don't forget you can download the Workspace training course I produced for Caligari here:
http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts5/Courses/WorkspaceOrganicModeling1.asp?Cate=Training&Subcate=Fundamental
They've released it for free, so definitely worth a download.

Thanks Jack, that makes me feel quite better.:jumpy:

Some things about Maya I could never figure out though, even through questions on the Maya forums out there, are: making and animating cloth (with and without collisions), making and animating hair (dynamic hair, not PaintFX), and NURBS (modeling, and animation). I've looked at so many tutorials, and that still didn't help me with Maya, although I find that modeling and animation with polygons in Maya is easy, as well as UV mapping.

When I want to extrude an edge in Truespace, there is an error that comes up when I click the sweep tool, and it says something like "Cannot sweep edges or vertices". I like the way Maya actually lets you extrude faces, edges, and even vertices. Therefore, I have to find workarounds for extruding edges and vertices in Truespace. For example: In the workspace side, I use the bridge tool to connect (or, kind of extrude) my models' edges, and vertices.

Oh, Jack, did you place your vote on my image poll?

Thankyou all for voting! I think the crumpled up piece of paper won this round, yet I think we still need more voters.

Scale will affect the final outcome I think. In the 1st pic, make the vase smaller and its flowers. The second pic can be a chrysanthemum (spelling?).
