Made today without any concept art. Concept of the weapon is the following, wrote by Master Elite:

Partisan Standard Combat Rifle

Clip Size: 42 rounds of Gauss Projectiles; 25 Plasma Bursts

Projectile Classification: Projectiles; Energy w/ Cell Housing attachment

Attachments: Power Cell Housing, Assault Scope, Advanced Guidance System, Sound Dampener, Energy Bayonet, Ion Charge Launcher

The Partisan is the standard issue assault rifle of today's military forces. It is a particularly flexible weapon, using magnetic coil technology to propel both physical projectiles and with the proper attachments, Plasma bursts. Add to that the Partisan's wide variety of compatible weapon attachments, and you get an incredibly versatile weapon that can be tailored specifically to any role it needs to fit, no matter how diverse.

The Ion Charge Launcher attachment is capable of firing both Physical grenades as well as launching massive plasma discharges, at a cost of a modest amount of ammunition. The result of one of these bursts is worthwhile, as it can severely injure personnel and also heavily damage vehicles.

Made in about 2 hours...might do a revision as I think it would look cool if it were bulkier...

Some constructive criticism: Looks great so far; something I was thinking about while looking at the picture was the intended method of aiming (the Marine in me can't help it!). Iron sights, optical device, or sensor link with the user's helmet? Also, if iron sights you may want to revise the buttstock or add in a cheek piece like those found on McMillan stocks to facilitate stock weld (the position of the face on the stock, to help with eye relief). All things aside I still think it looks great!

As per the aiming end of things, this is meant to be a futuristic weapon...this is the base weapon, but there are a load of attachments it is compatible with, including an energy control system that allows you to use aquirable power sources to allow energy-based firepower.

This weapon does in fact work with the wielder's combat exoskeleton and HUD. The Assault Scope is a primary attachment used for improved aiming...but as an attachment, I can't make it as part of the mesh.

Thanks for asking. :)

EDIT: I forgot to add that I'm making a few of said attachments...
