Ya, a worthwhile project to complete.
My daughter is studying to be a cultural anthropologist. She's in her last undergraduate year before moving on to her Master's.
She just loves this kind of stuff. I showed it to her and got an hour long lecture on that civilization and culture. heh |

Proud of her, eh? and rightfully so! :D It's a delight to see our kids do well, especially when they can start telling us things that perhaps we didn't know.. to see the arrows go beyond the bow - it's a delight. ^_^ |

Yes because those who make the software punch "soft walls" or at least they should !
Get well soon man !

I am going to have to drop out of the MMC. I broke my knuckle and I can't use the mouse and I can barely type. I have to wear this for 3 weeks. If I can get it in turned in before the time I will..but it does not look promising.
Hey sorry about the knuckle, but you have 9 other ones just itching to create or if you REALLY want to get back in there use your foot! :D
I'd really like to see this continue so if your like me and your right hand doesn't know what your left hand is doing... |

Well I do have some good news...in the evening I found out I can wear an ace wrap. With it I can easily model. So This weekend I will get back to it. I can't do much during the week right now do to my work schedule. |

Hey Jeff, glad to hear you are finding ways around the constraints! At the same time take care that you achieve proper healing to ensure your long-term well being.

Good news, Jeff! :jumpy:
It's amazing how much we need our hands to do anything in our current society. Occasionally I'll get a wrist sprain when working on construction project or moving something heavy (stupid thing never heals) and after a few hours of no typing, no mouse, no video game controllers, no writing, drawing, reading (can't hold the book), eventually I give up on the whole healing thing and pop a pain reliever and just go back to work, LOL. :D |

Indeed. I would love to see your model finished, but don't over do it and cause a permanent problem. Take it easy and don't worry if you cannot get finished in time for a silly contest. I know you will get there anyway. |

Ok...I think I am doing this the hard way. Please look at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Chichen-Itza-Castillo-Seen-From-East.JPG
and tell me how you might go about doing the detial on the "step" of the pyramid. I am sure there is an easier way than I am trying to do it. |

well... don't know how you are doing it NOW, but I would probably add some edges and then move them left and right in a snake formation... then sink them slightly. |

I would cut the detail in with the polydraw tool then extrude it. 'Course that's pretty much how I model everything.... ;) Polydraw tool is your friend.... :D |

OK...update!!.I added the temple at the top. I had to interpret the detail around the temple as images of it are not all that clear. I still have some detail work to do on it..but that is the basic shape. |

Well done, rjeff, a great MMC entry. Not only is it a good model, but I just love the composition of your image. The tree in the foreground and the mountains in the background really help to set a distinctive mood as well as giving a great sense of scale. Congrats and good luck with the votes. |

Alright. Hi! I'm Wolfman. This is my first post to the forum. Looks awsomly interesting from what I've seen. But I thought I might point out something for this project.
If you want the pyramid to look as realistic as possible...
The stairs should be at a 45 degree incline. This is what will guide you for the remainder of the pyramid.
Also, there are loads of images if you do a search for pyramids on Yahoo or Google.
Looks great so far. |

That is indeed what I did Wolfman. Started with the steps and went from there. This image is not done..just done for the MMC. |
