Not collaboration in the 'shared space' sense BUT this is a design by my Advanced Level Design student (18 years old) for his final school project before he goes to Uni. We have collaborated on the design sharing files to do so while we wait for truplay and SS to be a bit more stable. I used my version of TS7 to render his design with HDRI. This is a work in progress; |

Woah! That's one hoopy lookin' axe!
Translating that: That is a cool and innovative design for a guitar.
One little critique if I may: The strings should get progressively thinner with the top string being the thickest. Otherwise it rocks!! |

WORK IN PROGRESS....;)
Seriously though, it is a good design. It is meant for buskers/entertainers and that green screen thing is a tilting display where tracks can be selected. It would load backing tracks off SD card or similar and play through the speaker at the end of the fretboard (It is a steinberger type guitar).
The Chrome frame would be detachable leaving a small lightweight guitar for general playing/busking. Not a bad idea eh? |

You are absolutely correct - it is a great idea. As someone who has done more than a little bit of busking I can sure appreciate the design features too.
I recognised the Steinburger styling straight away - one of my favourite (and most inspirational) music tutors had a Steinburger bass which he had pulled the frets out of to make it... er ... fretless :o !

This is very cool work!
Makes you wonder what their teacher is like :)
I would have given anything to learn TS in the UK, but all I get stuck with is Lightwave... and I hate it. Too complicated and slow render times :(
This is very good work though. Make sure you tell your student how impressed we all are, and then tell them that us other young students don't need the competition! lol
All the best!
Andy. |

Thanks Zeipher-I will tell him.
Remember though that this is a collaborative effort. Not all of the composition in this image is done by the student-he modelled most of it and imported some basic components from libraries on my machine. I helped him with the render too as we both wanted to see it looking more realistic so I used my copy of TS7 to add HDRI to the scene. All in all though it is much more his work than mine.:D |

Corr! Tryin to take the attention away from his students :)
lol! Nah, still this is very good stuff. Still trying to figure out how to make my HDRI images look right, so seeing this gives me more of an idea on what i'm meant to be achieving.
Cool work... the both of you ;) |

Slot together rocking horse. A deceptive project this uses no glue or fixing and is a very clever piece of design work for a 15 year old girl. Awarded highest grade ata GCSE. Photo of finished item really shows it off (may post it later). |

Daybe, I teach Design and Technology to 11-18 year olds in a School in Yorkshire. This is a portable wooden game by a 15 year old student. He won a copy of TS6.6 for this; |

Very cool indeed - Your job must be hugely satisfying for you Paul. Someone once said "pick a job you love doing and you'll never have to work a day in your life!" - looks like that's what you have.
The back pack idea is particularly appealing - I've spent many nights sleeping with a lumpy pack for a pillow. With a backpack like this and one of those busking guitars you could go just about anywhere. |

Cool is not the right word. It is mindboggling that kids this young can produce clean, functional and elegant designs like these. Paul is doing something right here. |

Thanks Roman, I like to think I do a decent job of turning out 'future' designers. However, most of these guys (and gals) are pretty switched on-I just channel their energies..;) |

OK, not quite collaboration but I thought some of you (particularly students) might like this. I put together a poster for my students to illustrate the use of CAD/CAM. We used the MP3 player in this months gallery as the example. Sorry for the size though (upload limits:( )
By the way, the vaccuum form shot is actually a TS7 HDRI render. Actual form was a bit scratched. I am sure the more eagle eyed had noticed it anyway...:-) |

Remember the wooden toy from earlier on. The kid who did it asked if he could render a component for it in TS7 to try out the HDRI for a photorealistic render-this is the result; |

I am one of Mr Woodward's (splinters) students. Yes, his classes are pretty cool.
With regards to the demo competition winning entry-the image is much darker than in the thumbnail. I will post some TS7 stuff soon. :D |

Thanks Mr Bones, that render was one of my early renders for the demo competition. I will upload a more recent render soon. |
