Hi Marie,

I like the song you posted, you have a very strong nice voice.

I wish I could record and produce a voice like that, Because the only thing I feel lacking is the production. But actually the production wasnt that bad at all as a demo.

It seems you have had classical voice training?

The song is very nice and should really be professionally produced.

Cheers

^^ I know, I know, I'm just teasing.

Now for something entirely different. ^^; I'm going out on a limb, and I'm totally embarrassing myself, but I figured I should give everyone a taste of what I do. I doesn't count as 'my music', I didn't write it, but it is me singing.

Now be forewarned, this is just me sitting at my piano, trying to accompany myself and have good technique at the same time, and trying to get my digital voice recorder to work right.

You'll hear some crackling in my voice...>.> That's because I've been having some problems with allergies; I was told I probably need to have may adenoids/tonsils out since I loose my voice every time I get a cold, but without a job, without insurance, and with the risk of not being able to sing, I have opted to work with what I have and hope I can still get a job. >.> Damn tonsils....

Anyhoo, #1, from the musical "Aspects of Love" is the song "Love Changes Everything"

#2, "Laudate Dominum" by W.A. Mozart. Enjoy!

New song,

Entitled "FASTLANE"

Liv Moore on vocals and I make a brief vocal cameo in addition to playing guitar solo. This one is a bit more rock oriented for you enthusiasts.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

^_^ Thanks. My concentration in college was vocal performance, and I do sing on a semi-professional level. I sing with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for their annual holiday concerts in December. They're a major professional orchestra in Philadelphia, PA, but I don't get paid for it...yet...

I've thought about doing a professional demo, but I don't know where to have it done, and none of the stuff I sing is original; I'd have to go through getting copyrights and all that stuff too.

Fastlane is nice, I like the little break-away story in the middle, and the balance between the voice is well done on this one.

Marie,

In my opinion, your voice is much more refined and developed than Liv's
She is very young and had never been in the studio before.

You should definatley consider doing something about getting a decent demo made. I would be willing to help in anyway possible.

I could possibly come up with an original track for you to try, Just name a paticular genre or style you think you would be comfortable with.

Cheers

^_^ Thanks Mr. Bones.

Well, I am a classically trained singer, and most of the singing I do is in the classical style, you know, Mozart, Beethoven, Barber...that sort of music. I also do musicals (like, Broadway) decently well.

I guess I just need to contact someone who does the recordings and the like and see what they say the laws are for demo CDs. It's a lot of research...I bet someone at my college would know. You're right, it's about time I do a demo; I'm never going to make it as a professional if my voice isn't heard, right? Since I can't seem to find a teaching job...>.> stupid teaching...

I have some tracks that I composed that are a bit jazzy and broadway like.
I will try to dig them up and post here to see if they might interest you.
Notice my avatar is smiling in agreement!!!

Ah, that's cool. ^^; I was just curious because when I write a song, I usually start with the words, but that's just the way I do things. Would you mind if I tried to write some of my own for one of those songs? I have a few ideas swirling around in my head.

How cool would this be?! Not quite the form of collaboration that was originally envisaged for this section of the forum I suppose, but a song co-written by forum members?! Cool! :D

I need a connection where I can download some of this stuff - I want to hear ot all! :(

Hey mrbones. I'm sorry I haven't written back in a while. >.> Writing lyrics to already written songs is harder then I thought. I'm so used to starting with words and then forming the song. I haven't given up yet though, I'm determined to create something!

This is a song I am currently working on. It also happens to be my first ever DnB song.

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/179957

I'd like some feedback. It received low scores on newgrounds for some reason. I've posted this on several sites, and yet have received almost no replies. I'm hoping that caligari will prove better results.

thanks in advance!

Sorry. had to turn it off. hurt my head.

I think it was the repetetiveness of the beat...I know that's what is common in that style of music but I really couldn't listen to it.

I have to say that I have less time to spend around here nowadays but, despite having a background in music, I really come here for 3D and more specifically, tS related stuff; to share what I know and do and learn from others.

I think it has been said before that this is really not the best forum for feedback on music. I have no problems with it but the lack of feedback on your efforts must indicate that I am not the only one who thinks you would be better posting these on music forums.

I certainly would not post pictures of woodwork projects here expecting feedback...luckily, all my students make tS models of their projects before they make the actual project which is why I have posted student work before.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful but I thought some reply would be better than the relative 'silence' your music threads seem to have...:o

sorry about that. I have been posting my last submissions in the right areas, but to no avail. it's rare that I get a response. this time, I figured I would at least get some type of return if I posted in the WIP section. It IS a WIP after all, just not 3D.

If it is a need, I will stop posting music here. Hopefully, there will be a way I can incorporate it.

QUE: Been lookin into music making software lately. Need a complete studio type. So far I have looked at Cakewalk, and FL Studio.

Any input as to completeness of features, and which offers the most features out of the box, instead of paying more for add ons, would be appreciated.

Other free options would be Great :D

Cubase - I am a big fan of Cubase, as I've been using it since the Atari ST days, so it's very intuitive to me. Will do everything from MIDI to hard disk recording, and creator's Steinberg are behind the VST standard of course. Has nice media management features too, and the Halion synth in it is a nice one too - combine that with a ton of free VST synths out there and you should be nicely set.

I couldn't get on with Cakewalk at all, it just didn't handle the clips the way I expected (I couldn't just copy and move various midi parts around, without some dialog coming up about copying or replacing etc, plus several other things that just didn't work the way I expected, so went back to Cubase when they had a nice upgrade deal from the free Cubase version that came with my sound card). That's just a "your way of thinking" thing though, nothing wrong with Cakewalk, I just "think like Cubase" and don't "think like Cakewalk" :)

HTH!

I'm thinking of nabbing me Cubase as I heard it's kinda like Logic pro we use at college...except cubase is for PC and Logic is for Macs (and I hate macs)

It's a pretty sweet program but I think it'll set me back a few quid

Like Tom I am also a big fan of Cubase. I guess part of the reason is just sheer familarity, as I have lost count of the number of years I have used it for. For sure it's a very complete and powerful app. As already mentioned there are mountains of freebie addons out there for it too.

I too always struggled to get on with cakewalk, though it is also a very able app, and some friends swear by it.

Would recommend also taking a look at Ableton, a surprisingly powerful prog that although a little different from a lot of mainstream music apps, is easy to get your head around, and in some ways faster than Cubase to get the desired result. It has a 14 day trial version with all working bells n whistles. The app includes a large number of effects as standard, including a particularly good quality reverb.

Heres a link if it's any help

http://www.ableton.com/

Cheers

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive! (yeah!) I'm sorry I haven't been on in forever. Believe it or not, I started a new job! I'm teaching full-time again, and with it being concert/conference/holiday time, I just don't get online as much as I should!

So, just for the fun of it, since I know you all miss me so, I thought I'd share with you one of my first orchestrated works. This is the first movement of my Magnificat for SSA and chamber orchestra. Sorry for the crappy Midi.

Enjoy!
