The past few times that I've tried to get into shared space, it locks up. Works fine until I try to clisk on one of the objects in there, and then TS locks up. My task manager tells me that it's running fine, but I can't do anything. Some of the buttons are clickable, as are the layout tabs across the top, but they don't do anything. Anyone else having this problem? I know that there were some issues.

I think what you are experincing here is that you are getting logged out. If you wait long enough your Logon screen will re appear. Happens to me sometimes as well. Over all it has been working for me most of the time. One thing that I would like to point out though, if you do not log off before exiting trueSpace next time you open trueSpace it will automaticaly try logging you into sharedSpace. Not a problem if you have your password "Remember", checked. Work around is to quickly exit the logon screen when you first open truespace. It appears fast so I use the short cut Ctrl/Shift/F10 to get back and exit. Excuse me here but it is hard for me to explain this. This is an User error. Anyway just thought I would share.

It's the Caligari customer login right? (seemed to work for me but then I don't remeber if something asked me to create a password)

It is your customer login, but I believe that you have to be a proteam member to access the shared space.

I haven't tried to access it for a while now myself. TS crashed and got messed up last time I tried and I had to reinstall. I was kind of waiting for some solid confirmation that it's working ok myself. Though it sounds like some people aren't having any trouble with it now. I still think I'm going to wait for more reassurance as I really don't want to have to reinstall and lose all my libraries and such now that I have more stuff in there.

Any official word that it's working smooth now?

Nope, not what the problem is at all. Worked "okay" when 7 was first released, and in fact spent some time in there with a Beta tester and customer rep (Paul I think?) messing around to see what the limitations were. Crashed on us a few times too, but overall was pretty stable. Didn't try again for a few weeks. Then next time I logged in, I got in okay, was able to move around and everything. It only locked up when I tried to click on one of the objects in there. I think there's three of them, and each is labled something different, like training, objects etc. Then the only way to get TS to close down is by going through my task manager. Another problem that was discovered with the rep above was TS locking when logging out of Shared Space. He sent that on to the developers.

I cannot log in to shared space, never have been able to. I was told by customer services that shared space is only available to proteam members..

That might be part of the problem. I was proteam, but let it expire (IMO, cost isn't justified). It was my understanding that it was going to be available for a while to everyone, and there might be some availablility to non-proTeam. If not, then that's infortunate. Seems to be a waste. I remember when Bryce 4 had a chat that was open to everyone.

In theory, only certain people can access shared space. If you are proTeam or on our beta testing team, you have access. If you just purchased trueSpace7, at moment you would not be able to access shared space.

If you are proTeam and have problems accessing shared space. Please let me know.

Why cannot everyone access the shared space. It is one of the things I was looking forward to with true space. Oh Well I suppose I and other people will just have to wait for it:(

Norm,

Not to be too critical, but I think that if shared space isn't made more of a communal thing, then it's doomed to failure. It's a good idea, but I think it should be allowed for all users to "host" from their own machines if they like. If they want to get training, or get in on Caligari's servers, then they should be proTeam. Also not for a business, which then I understand the need to charge, maybe a one time or per time fee for someone who doesn't want to pay for proTeam. I'm thinking more for if I want to work with my friend who lives in we'll say California in shared space, and we both have full versions of TS7 (note - not the player), then we should be able to work together in our own space, if one of us wanted to host on our machines. I realize that shared space probably isn't set up that way, which is unfortunate, but otherwise I don't see it working. Not at the full cost of proTeam.

Thanks Roman,

I was wondering if you were working on Shared Space. Especially I could get in for a short while even though it did crash.

Thanks, but I think someone already mentioned that. It'll be cool to see it when it's up based on what I've already seen when I was able to get in.

So when Trueplay is released will every TS7 user be able to use Shared Space? Or will is still only be for ProTeam Members?

Not sure it is as 'selective' as that, certainly not in any elitist sense. To keep things manageable, it was mentioned that it would be accessed first by Beta Testers (obvious eh?), then Proteam members.

The big picture, as I understood it, was that you would eventually be able to host your own shared space. After all, isn't that what Roman is offering in the 'Become a 7.1 Beta Tester' thread?

I have no idea. In fact I've been a little TS dead the past few weeks. Busy landscaping my yard, and working like a freak!

It's only that during the whole "run-up" to the TS7 release, shared space was portrayed as a part of TS7; and not something that only a few people could use, if they were either beta (which is obviously understandable) or paid $1,000 for a ProTeam Membership annually.

Trueplay is the free player based viewer for TS content. Anyone who has it can view recordings made in TS7 and stop, pause etc. while also interacting with objects (move, scale etc.) and view. The hosting of the sharedspace is slightly different although, it also can use truplay. Or you can do it with TS7...It is a place on the web where you can log in and work interactively (or just view) with others.

I understand what Shared Space is; but it was my understanding that customers who paid for TS7 would get to use it without having to shell out more money. Shared Space was touted as something "new and great" that other apps. didn't have...something to set TrueSpace apart from the others. So is it going to be pay-to-play?

AS far as I am aware sharespace is not something to be charged for. Now, if you count a proteam membership as paying then.....
