Alright we had some great entries in Squiggle 01. Let's see even more in Squiggle 02. :)
Once again here are the ground rules. I will be a bit more strict this time to be fair, so be sure to read carefully. ;)
1. The 3D squiggle should be recognizable somewhere in the model/scene.
2. You may extrude off of the squiggle mesh to expand upon it but you may NOT cut holes or deform it. (with the exception of subdivision surfaces in which you may add layers of subdivision to give it a smooth round look) No deforming also applies to non uniform scaling.
3. You may add geometry to the squiggle mesh but only for extrusion purposes. You may NOT add geometry to deform the squiggle shape itself or to cut holes. This includes fillets/chamfer.
4. You may enter as many times as you wish so long as each entry is made from scratch (meaning no reusing parts from previous entries). You may use pre-made objects to set up the rest of the scene should you choose to make an entire scene. You may also spend as much time as you desire as there is no time limit.
5. Your entries should be ONE 800x600 image each. No putting up multiple images for the same entry and no linking to larger images. This should help keep everything organized and even. MAKE SURE your forum name is on your entry. I would say for now, showing a wireframe is optional but very much encouraged.
All entries must be in by the end of the day on 7-15-06.
Now go get creative and HAVE FUN! :)
Ok, here is Squiggle 02 and an example to kick it off! |

Aah, great number 2 in the squiggles. I have lots of time on my hands so I'll give this one a go. |

If you squint REAL HARD you'll see a cat, piglet, a meat ball, Thanksgiving Dinner and Sally Fields....;)
I attached a hint about Sally for the younger audience. |

Saul: Sorry. I'm thinking that having some ground rules will keep it even for everyone. I really like your animation though. :)
TheWickedWitchOfTheWeb: Lol, classic Kate style! Nice one! :)
Steinie: I can't quite squint that hard but it looks good. Nice job! :) |

Sorry for the delay guys. I've been very busy lately. :)
It looks like there just isn't quite enough interest in this. :( Perhaps I'll try it again sometime in the future. Thanks to everyone who did participate though. Some really great creativity in this here community. :) |

I'm surprised there hasn't been enough interest from many of the forum members. I thought it was a fun thing to do as well as getting the imagination chugging.
Shame on all those that haven't entered for not getting into the spirit of things and a HUGE thank you to Dele for trying to get it up and running. I think it's a great idea with more mileage yet so maybe it'll get a better response on it's re-launch in the future?
Thanks again Dele - it was fun. |
