Hi folks,

I wonder how many of us have good ideas on ways to get more people to utilize truePlaces more often.

I have a few as I'm sure others here do, so why not collaborate here on them.

Activities like the Easter Egg Hunt are a good place to start I think. It seems to me that that kind of "hide and seek" activity could be elaborated upon in many ways.

I discovered tonight that there are also many places you can get to while jumping around in any given truePlace which are far from obvious to the casual explorer... like UNDER the Lakehouse and behind the lake for instance, or above the bouilding in the Roundtable truePlace. Perhaps such places could harbor links for the more determined explorers among us.

Any ideas anyone?

I agree with 3dvisuals. The gathering at the Easter Egg Hunt proved that even a village consisting of a couple of brightly coloured hollow mushrooms can be an inspiring environment to exchange ideas, or just chat. It was very nice to meet a lot of people there.

The lack of body language, that sometimes makes a thread in the forums go sour, often starting with some small misunderstanding of the intention of the other, is compensated in the TruePlaces by the possibility to respond immediately and stay involved.

I think even the transatlantic time difference is bridged by the fact that the wish for contact with other members of the TS-community appears to be stronger than the need for sleep :)

Well don't forget the opening of the Renderosity Gallery in 45 minutes! After about 8.50am US Central Time, log in to the link below to meet Renderosity's 2006 Artist of the Year Matthieu Roussel in a gallery of his works!

Thanks Burisman,

I was just thinking about the "hide and seek" aspect of the successful Easter Egg Hunt event, and I recall before the internet became what it now is, many of us Telnet users used to play a text game online with multiple simultaneous users called "Quest for Magic." It was a very addictive game, and although the basics were simple enough for a firstime user to grasp and immediately start exploring and text-communicating with fellow explorers... there were "powers" one could gain by picking up certain usually-hidden items or deciphering riddles whos keys were to be found only by the most persistent of explorers. As I said, this game was extremely addictive, but also had the side-effect of gathering a HUGE (1200 member) membership base for the particular BBS site that hosted it within only three months after launching it. That;s food for thought there for me at least... perhaps there are scripts which could be employed within truePlaces to offer something similar.

That's just one idea... I have many!;)

Your thoughts everyone?

Hi Tom, and WOW!!! what an awesome job you folks did setting this whole idea up... bringing Renderosity's users into truPlaces is an OUTSTANDING idea!!! I only wish there were links at the renderosity gallery permitting their truePlace users to hop over to Caligari's other truePlaces, perhaps in time.

Well done, very well done. I'm sorry I slept through the main event (crashed would be more accurate!) but I did go there and will return as often as I can... great work there and great idea.

Thanks!

Oh... by the way, what do you personally think about the idea I just posted above regarding a kind of "Quest for Magic" oriented truePlace?

Maybe not so much a game oriented approach, but a script-enhanced incentive for users to return often to any given truePlace?
