Hi folks.

Being the innovative folks we are, the scriptors are going to try something different Tuesday night.

Here is the handy link to the countdown timer for the meeting (Thanks TomG!). Do note, this meeting is starting at 9 PM Eastern time.

http://www.caligari.com/ScriptLive.asp

I will be presenting a database application written in vbscript, at the script portal:

tpportal.caligari.com, port: 1212.

The goal here is related to TomG's discussion of TNL! points. Be sure to come see this. It will be really Cool! We also need your feedback on the appearance of the display, which shows you your name, and total points.

We will have a Q & A session.

Then, we will move to another portal (currently undecided but we will keep you updated), for a Happy Hour type of event, where we will have other shared space stuff.

Scriptors, If you have something to show, i.e., related to UFO HUDs, and the like, this would be the place to do it!

Also in this area, I will present a simple LE tutorial. Specifically, I will show you how easy and fun it is to create an animation using just 3 items: a sphere, a timer, and a Circle Generator.

So we hope to see you there!

Welcome To Our ~NEW~ Worlds!

The Tuesday Night Script Meetings are about to go where no shared space meetings have ever gone before, yet again.:D

Every week, starting tonight, the Tuesday Night Meetings will be conducted in 2 parts:

Part 1 - Script Presentations and Script Development Workshop

Bring your questions and curiosity, watch presentations of new scripted objects and activities, share scripts you've developed yourself if you like, all in the regular plain wire grid empty room provided for Script testing called "The Scriptorium."

Part 2 - Scripted Eyecandy Presentation

When everyone there in Part 1 is ready for it, the room will be completely transformed before your eyes into a cool and completely new scene every week. Here in this new scene and second part of the Scriptors Meetings, we will present new "Eyecandy Script Developments" every week, and you are welcome to bring your own with you too.:D

According to The Captain's Blog and other posts about it here at the forums from Roman, we will all at some point soon be provided with an opportunity to rent "affordable" personal multi-user portals on the Caligari Servers.

When that happens we will all be considering just what to put there, so in the meantime we will be showing you some of the possibilities and ways to script those scenes so that when that day arrives you will all be more than ready to join us in building nice new scripted portal scenes of our own.

Here's a glimpse of tonight's new scene for instance, but every week these scenes will be entirely different, so be sure to not miss any, the following day's screenshots just won't convey the experience completely at all.

The trueSpace Scripting Community is making massive progress in many different related fields simultaneously. Come join us there and discover why we're so excited about the future of shared space for yourself.:)

See you there!

By the way....

For those of you who have already heard a rumor about something entirely new and cool which will be presented in that second half of the meeting tonight... the scene itself is not what was being referred to... there's something else in that second half which you just have to see for yourself.:D

This was going to be my first meeting, but I can't figure out how to get there. How do you use the information "tpportal.caligari.com, port: 1212" or is it one of the regular areas when you start truePlay?

Hi Clintonman. I apologize for not seeing this sooner.

Here are instructions for setting up truespace to connect to the trueplay portal: tpportal.caligari.com, port 1212.

Please note, the port in the example on this web page is 1111, but we meet at 1212.

When you get into the Network node, there should be a node called clintonman. Click the orange triangle on that, and select Default. You should see the server and port settings. Change them to

Server: tpportal.caligari.com

Port: 1212

There is also an 'Active' check box. If you check that, you should login automatically.

Please let us know if that works;

Hi Scala3d.

The Scriptor meetings are on Tuesday nights; we spend part of the time discussing scripting, with presentations, etc., then we do more general shared space stuff, like immersive scenes.

The Thursday Night Live events are every other Thursday. There is one tomorrow.

You can download the truespace 7.51 demo to watch what we're doing in the Link Editor, which is used extensively with scripting and shared space development.

You can also use trueplay, but you cannot see what we're doing in the LE.

I will be making an announcement about the next meeting in a couple days so stay tuned!

HTH!

Cool, thanks for the clearification Frootee! I will try to be there. I really want to get active into this group. I do shell scripting in Linux, but want to see the new LK editer in action in TS 7.5. A lot of our webservices in GIS at work is using VBscript and Jscript with our spatial imagery. I have a lot to learn....!!!

See you soon!

Cool! Collaboration man!

Say, didn't you have a website where folks could buy a plugin developer's kit or something? I looked for it before ts 7.0 came out, but couldn't find it.

Here we go again folks... Tuesday October 23rd Script Development Meeting Part 2 is being set up now and should be a lot of fun as always!:D

I have absolutely no idea who will be presenting what for the Part 1 segment of the meeting but I know there's bound to be something interesting there for sure as always. I've noticed that several of our best Community Scriptors have been dropping in to these Tuesday Night Meetings lately so perhaps one or two of them will surprise us all with some of their great scripted stuff, you never know what we might just pull out of our hats together in there this time!:D

In keeping with our new "Welcome to Our ~NEW~ Worlds!" 2 Part Meeting Format started last week, I've created a new scene for us all to play in this time and every week the scene will be utterly different from the scene before. We had an outstanding turnout last week and we all had a lot of fun together there so be sure not to miss this coming Tuesday Night Meeting at all, it should definitely be a blast!

The Tuesday Night Script Meetings are about to go where no shared space meetings have ever gone before, yet again.:D

Every week, the Tuesday Night Meetings will be conducted in 2 parts:

Part 1 - Script Presentations and Script Development Workshop

Bring your questions and curiosity, watch presentations of new scripted objects and activities, share scripts you've developed yourself if you like, all in the regular plain wire grid empty room provided for Script testing called "The Scriptorium."

Part 2 - Scripted Eyecandy Presentation

When everyone there in Part 1 is ready for it, the room will be completely transformed before your eyes into a cool and completely new scene every week. Here in this new scene and second part of the Scriptors Meetings, we will present new "Eyecandy Script Developments" every week, and you are welcome to bring your own with you too.

According to The Captain's Blog and other posts about it here at the forums from Roman, we will all at some point soon be provided with an opportunity to rent "affordable" personal multi-user portals on the Caligari Servers.

Here's a glimpse of this coming Tuesday's new scene for instance (I'm not showing you everything here though;)), but every week these scenes will be entirely different, so be sure to not miss any, the following day's screenshots just won't convey the experience completely at all.

Hi again folks!

Just a reminder, as Mark pointed out, we will be having our Tuesday night script meeting, same time, same place.

At this time I have no planned presentation, though I have something in the works; I will be getting there quite late; so if you have something you want to present, please post a notice here, in this thread, so we can plan. If there are no planned presentations, Mark will start his presentation immediately.

Here are some suggested topics though:

Function Sets

Use of single triggers, and multiple triggers

Timing of input link updates with respect to activating script commands

Hint: This is the stuff I learned this weekend! :D

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you there!

Instructions for trueSpace7.5 And truespace7.5 Demo users to connect to the truePlaces Portal:

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespac...7&postcount=30

If you have any difficulty with that you can still use truePlay1.3 ( http://www.caligari.com/products/tru...ubCate=S2forum ) to go right to the online Forum just outside the Meetingroom. When you arrive at that Forum you will immediately see a horizontal link bar in front of you with several room designations depicted there as icons. We will all be in the "Meetingroom" and the icon for that is on that linkbar.

Hi folks.

Please check this link also. We can discuss this at the scriptor meeting. Splinters, a longtime truespace user (and the creator of the truespace 7.5 series icons!) needs our assistance, specifically with doors and lifts (elevators).

So this is a good discussion topic.

Thanks!

Hi everybody,

Some of the other Scriptors in the Community may be making additional presentations of one kind or another throughout both parts of the Tuesday Night Script Developers Meeting on October 23rd in the Scriptorium (tpportal 1212).

No matter what else gets presented there though, I'd like to provide each of you with an opportunity to share your own pre-made 3D models with us all there which you would like at some point to place online in your own scenes.

As you will see in the images on the following post:

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=50982&postcount=16 (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=50982&postcount=16)

A new Portal Scene just for use on that particular Meeting night has been prepared which offers 7 Stages, platforms where we can place our own 3D Models and/or Scripted 3D Objects and share them together for discussion and examination.

Everyone is encouraged to bring your own creations to these meetings as always for this purpose, and every new Meeting Portal Scene has special places provided within it specifically dedicated to such presentations.

Please note that in order to bring a 3D Object (scripted or not) into these online environments from trueSpace the objects cannot exceed a file size of 1 meg without first seeking permission to do so (at the time) from Norm, me, or Frootee. This is very important in order to be certain that the overall scene filesize does not instantly become unmanageable, especially for dialup and broadband folks attending the meeting when new objects are introduced.

Needless to say you would feel pretty bad about dragging in a great new model of yours which caused everyone to instantly crash because it was larger than the scene at that moment would allow. Larger file sizes may in some cases be permitted but may require us to first delete other objects from the scene (or the entire scene itself) before introducing new objects accordingly.

Dragging in objects can be OK under many circumstances, but always ask someone who is managing a given meeting before you do so. Thanks.:)

Also if you have pre-created scenes designed for use online in shared space already, please contact me via PM here about an opportunity to share it/them with us all. The whole idea here is to help each other develop our own scenes together designed for eventual shared space deployment, not just to have a "Mark Scene Of The Week!" Shared Space is for all of us and we'd all love to see what others plan to bring to it.:)

We will need to have a very close look at the contents and filesize of any actual scenes in advance of possibly placing them online though, of course, and accordingly they should be presented to one of us for examination a day or two in advance in case they may require any related modifications. Just PM me about it a few days in advance and we'll arrange a scene inspection.

Thanks folks,

This Tuesday Night should be a lot of fun as always and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!

How nice, I will certainly come.

Thank you Roman!

The thought of one day having our own multi-user scenes online is a very exciting thing for many of us.

There are so many ways to design scenes for different online purposes that each of us tends to have ideas which are very different from one another so it is always interesting to discuss them and explore their development together in shared space.

Splinters, for instance, has some very innovative ideas on scripted interactive scene design approaches to online multi-user educational settings. Many ideas which are perfectly applicable to educational settings are also equally applicable to business meeting settings as well as to online organizational meetings from local hobby clubs to global international family clan gatherings and a host of other presentation oriented meetings.

This is all very exciting for us here in the Caligari Community being on the genuine threshold together of an entirely new and wonderful approach to immersive interactive multi-user 3D Web Development. As Frootee and I often say to one another, we always feel like Pioneers blazing entirely new trails with all this related development work. It's a great deal of fun for us all.:)

We're honored to have you join us tonight as always Sir. Thank you for opening exciting new worlds of possibility for us all in todays development of tomorrows genuinely Immersive and Interactive 3D Web Environments.

Together with Caligari in the years ahead we will not only be leading the way, we will be blazing entirely new directions together which one day the whole world will be genuinely eager to follow.

Just a friendly reminder folks...

the tuesday night scriptor meeting will begin 2 hours 59 minutes from now!

See you there!

Froo

Yikes... that was only true an hour and 59 minutes ago!

LOL!!!

Just so there's no confusion on the time Caligari set up a Countdown Timer to the event which is on the following page:

http://www.caligari.com/ScriptLive.asp (http://www.caligari.com/ScriptLive.asp) (6:00 PM PST and thereafter;))

As always the meeting is being held in The Scriptorium portal of truePlace. To get there you can either go to the main truePlace Meetingroom and then click on the 3D Easel Object there (image attached) or the Scriptorium Link on the Linkbar in that room which has an icon resembling a golden necklace.

You can go there with either truePlay1.3, the trueSpace7.5 Demo, or trueSpace7.51. Instructions for using each are in this thread and a similar thread currently running in the Collaboration area of the forums here.

As always we are encouraging folks to bring any scripts, scripted objects, or regular 3D objects which they would like to share tonight. Please be aware of filesizes though and ask Norm, me, or Frootee (at the time) before placing any objects into the scene as we must be careful of overall scene file size for the sake of those attending via broadband or modem. If a file is around one meg give or take it shouldn't be an issue, and larger sizes may be introduced to the scene but we may have to first delete other objects in the scene to make that possible, so again, just ask. Thanks.:)

Frootee as mentioned previously will be arriving at least a half an hour after the meeting begins, so anything you would like to discuss or present there during that time (and throughout the night) is most welcome.

Sooner or later we will all be placing our scenes online on Caligari Server Portals which will be made available on an affordable rental basis for us to enjoy. These meetings now are a great opportunity to discuss creating your own scenes and scripted objects for use in those online environments. So bring your ideas, questions, 3d objects, scripts, and curiousity with you tonight and we'll look forward to seeing you there!:)

Thanks,

- Mark / 3dvisuals dude

Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure whether anyone else had any difficulties, may have been a route issue. I think I saw you there in the crowd tonight at some point though, so hopefully it worked itself out for you and didn't drop on you. Even with cable I've had my share of service glitches so I know how frustrating it can be. One night I could hardly attend one of the meetings where I was a speaker, lol, I crashed about 18 times that night between the service glitches and the bridge that I always forget to turn off in there!

Thanks for making the effort to come by anyway, and I'm sorry I was so tied up with talking to so many folks in there I never even got to say hello to you I don't think! Very crowded night there, it was a lot of fun once we finally got that scene rolling, Roman had a great time with us all in there too.:)

Here's the only screengrab I managed to get tonight, it was Frootee and Scala3D crossing the glass bridge between the MeetingTree and the Tower.

It was kind of cool having a meeting up in the clouds for a change, I'll have to dream up something pretty fancy to top that for next week now!:p

Thanks for coming Steve, I'm just sorry you didn't have a chance to hang out a little later and share your TorusKnot and WavePool stuff with us all there, I know they'd all love playing with that stuff as much as I do, especially when we disable collision on the waves and go neck deep in them!:D I'd also like to have you drag in the TorusKnot and kill all the lights... you know what I mean!:D

See you there next week I hope, and thanks for coming by!
