Yep truePlay is absolutely free - you can talk (voice or text), walk around, trigger objects with behaviors etc. The one thing you can't do is model new objects etc, but you still can fully participate in the interactive environments!

Thanks!

Tom

Thank you all for the efforts. I removed tS 7.5 & trueplay and reinstalled. The same error came up

@ Tom - if you can give me a hint at what that error message means I'd appreciate it

... then when I opened 7.5 trial new d/l, I hit the 2 face icon at bottom, got my 'IM looking' link up, but would then give a 'lion grunt' sound and stopped continuing to fully load. Any input?

What video card are you using?

I'm no expert but the error message looked to me to be based on having zero Direct3D Acceleration support on the card.

I'm not familiar with that card. I would fire off an e-mail to tech support about it and mention that card model and show them the error screengrab.

Sorry I'm not much help on that.

Do you mean the Radeon X300 (http://ati.de/products/RadeonX300/index.html)?

Just noticed you've already listed the X300SE in your sig :o:rolleyes:

Another thought crossed my mind on that DirectX eccelleration error message you got.

If you don't have the latest DirectX90c installed that could cause the same problem even if your video card can handle it all.

When you installed TS did you auto-install the latest DirectX from the web when the dialog box recommended that? If not, you can still get the DirectX90c offline Vendors install here and there on the web if you'd rather not download it right from Microsoft, either way that might solve the issue.

Another possibility is that the video card drivers became corrupted somehow or need updating from ATI online.

Again though, Tech Support is the best source of an accurate answer to the problem for you, I'm just guessing here and trying to help in the meantime.

I'd bet it's your video card. From what I could find the X300SE might not be Pixel Shader 2.0 compliant since it only supports up to DX 9.0 (not DX 9.0c) and is performance rated at less than an nVidia 6200 series card... :(

Hmmm... thanx Jack. you may be right abt the 9.0(c). will look into it.
Have been reading thru forums on best video cards. Will look at Newegg site. 1st thing I need IS to upgrade the video card, as my puter is a basic one, NOT geared for 3D art or gaming. Have been cheatin' so far :o. Will bother tech support abt the error.

@3dvis - yes. I did everything it asked, but I know that my card isn't up to date; up until recently I had been able to go visit truePlace (though I never found anyone else there:( It was just bad timing I guess). Been a while though (maybe it was 1.2 the last time I used it) using just the truePlace d/l

PS: I want to pose the question abt which company works best with tS (ATI, nVidia, etc) but I don't want to hijack this thread. Just point me to where to look in for this topic. TY)

Quick response.

ATI vs. nVidia

both work. I have no problems and I have ATI were others have nVidia and they like theirs too. Model # is everything. Just ask.

Search the forums on video cards, a lot of discussion about them already.

I recommend this card right now:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229

It's almost as fast as an 8600 GTS and is $40 cheaper.
