I am pretty confused as to what is the version of trueplay is. The Trueplay that I notice in the download area seems to be trueplay 1.0 and I remember a newsletter before september mentioning trueplay 1.1. Now with the current newsletter (which doesn't neccessarily link you to the right one at least from e-mail as I had to change the 'july' part of the url to 'sept') is annoucing trueplay 1.2 which is to come out withen a few weeks.

I guess what I'm asking is are they actual downloads to be updated in which case where is trueplay 1.1 if not thien when you talk about the next version of trueplay do then mean instead that trueplay withen itself is the version(if you understand that hopefully)

What are trueplay versions? Downloads or within itself updated/upgraded?

Current download is tP1.0.

tP1.1 was "previewed" at SIGGRAPH, but on thinking about it, we decided not to release it and wait for tP1.2 where we would make even more modifications.

So there are a few folks out there with tP1.1 (if they went to SIGGRAPH and got the CD), but that's it for the moment! Basically we hadn't originally planned a tP1.2 for a while, but we got some exciting new stuff to add and brought it forward, so decided not to replace the download of 1.0 with 1.1.

It will be a download as far as I know when released. tP may well at some point become self-updating, but this is not the case with the 1.0 and 1.1 versions.

Hi Tom, and group.... I would like to use the app for some stuff where I work but Due to Restrictions only have a offline system that I can use to show what Can be done with the App. The install has to be online to setup where a DX9c capable graphics card seemed to still not launch due to a DX9 check with the CD Instal VER 1. I can't seem to get it to work. Any Way around This? Thanks for your time! Scott

You can still load files into truePlay offline, but not with collaboration. So you can have a single instance of truePlay load a file and display it in real-time, but you can only have that single instance and single user.

Having multiple users requires connection to a trueServe server. Once purchased, you can easily use that server on a local network and not on the internet at all, allowing intranet collaboration.

So I guess that depends on whether you wanted to demo the real-time display offline (possible) or collaboration of multiple participants (not possible unless you own trueServe).

One thing to note on the DX9 compatible cards, the NVIDIA FX5 series (eg FX5200, FX5600) state DX9 compatibility, but this is only through software and not hardware (as I understand it) and so give slower performance than you might otherwise expect. They should allow an install however. Could you say which card it is, that might help diagnose what you are experiencing.

If all else fails on getting the install, you could contact Tech Support who may be able to walk you through the process.

Sounds like need to update your video drivers.

Hope this is helpful.

I have seen truePlay and ts7 brought to its knees on my laptop (A radeon 9000 mobility) with fairly basic scenes and I have no shadow filtering (or shadows in some cases). Turning on AA is just not gonna happen.

So, I cannot be sure but I would have thought that your card would struggle with tP/tS7 even if you did update the drivers.

A geForce2 MX400 only supports DX8, and not DX9. This will be why you receive the message. Unfortunately, truePlay requires DX9.0c to function, so requires at least an FX5x, and preferably a GeForce6, or higher to function.

Ok, I see my posts again, They were gone last nite when I got home, I guess the system here at work is a no go. Maybe in another year or so they'll get me a system I can show them what the possibilities are. Thanks for all your help. Sorry I missed the online chat last nite. I tried Logging in from trueplay with my user and password but it wouldn't let me. I must need to do something to my setup at home to get online with trueplay. Scott

Hi Scott,

The good news is that the chat is tomorrow night, so you haven't missed it :)

If you have trouble logging in, you could email tech support for help. One thing to remember is that it does not take your forum username and password, but the one you use to purchase products from Caligari (or when you registered truePlay if you don't own any Caligari software). That may have nothing to do with the problem you have experienced, but I mention it as it is easy to get confused with the number of usernames, sign ins, log ins and such that we all have these days on the net :)

A geForce2 MX400 only supports DX8, and not DX9.

It might support some of DX8 via software, but hardware-wise it's a DX7 card (http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88&pgno=1).
