Only a little thing:

After starting the program it would be good to have a window activated.

I wondered why switching between views ( perspective, top etc) had no

effect until I saw that the workspace was not activated.

My vote would be for mouse over activation... ;)

Course that could get annoying when my mouse travels over a different view to get to a panel on the stack view....

how about last used stays active, until MMB is clicked in another viewport. That or mouse over(Jack), I like that in blender(and the context sensitive hot keys).

I agree, windows should be autofocused on mouse over. One has to exit an active tool to make the navigation with mmb to work. Same with scrolling in stack view, it's necessary to click it first to make scrolling to work.

I vote for last used.. its when I go to get something for the scene that it loses focus and yet not all the time..

Plus setting the focus to one of the workspace windows when opening TS. Or switching between Modeler and Workspace. Which was the original idea of Wigand :)
