How about some Link Editor options.

"Filters" to hide types of nodes on an individual basis (lights, materials, avatars in truePlace...every 'category' that can be grouped in the link editor should be able to be hidden)

Some "Go To" checkmark properties (on a drop down menu within the Link Editor's title bar - not "somewhere out there" ;) ) that when checked, allows a user to click on an object in the workspace, or a material in the ME, and its "level" will automatically show up in the link editor with the object's node selected. For those that don't want the Link Editor jumping around, they could easily uncheck the option in the dropdown list - how sweet is that!?

These are just two specific features I recommend -I know that this hardly makes a "complete" Link Editor toolset, but I feel these are among the necessary features, whichever way they might get implemented, that would make for a more useful and user friendly Link Editor.

Have you tried unchecking the items in the Link Editor preference panel in the Stack/Settings?

I'd also like the addition of layer handling via LE.

Actually...no. :o

Well, it's almost there then...very nice. I guess I'll start checking the settings panel more often before making requests. ;)

I'd still like the option to have the LE send focus to selected items and what not. And also the cut, copy and paste functionality as discussed in the "some suggestions of the past" (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3150) thread.

This is not exactly what you wanted but it might help.

I thank you for leading me to a workaround solution.

I still have to express my state of disbelief that a script is required to separate encapsulated objects - I was thinking someone might have pointed out a button or other built-in method that I overlooked or something.

Fortunately these were only test objects - manipulated cylinders and the like. It is good to know that it's not irreversible...I'll be careful.

One more thing about the LE (and I am glad they implemented those suggestions to begin with, but): I see no reason why the ability to hide primitives [mesh objects] should be excluded from that group of options - we should anticipate that somebody may wish to work in the LE without primitives cluttering the view at some point as well.

Not a complaint...just a further refinement suggestion. :D

If you select an object in the Workspace, it's panel in the LE will get focus and vice versa. The panel may be off screen depending on the layout of the LE, but if you double left click the navigation panel in the LE the currently selected panel will become centred.

Well, what I meant was from other context levels in the hierarchy. It doesn't always give focus - it only does so when you're on the same level.

For me, I'd find it a quick way to find my way back to the scene when I lose my bearings. Knowing "where" you are takes some time to get used to.

I like my conveniences. ;)
