I think direct import and export via the library like with Collada would be better. :)

Agree.... I'm not picky!
I just want to be able to turn off the Bridge and not having this capability forces me to turn it back on.

Just curious - what benefit does turning off the bridge produce?

It makes things go faster in the Model tab; it makes it so that the program only loads on the Model side, so it loads much faster.

I do find it somewhat annoying switching that on and off....

Actually the way Steinie and I were meaning was to work exclusively on Workspace side and not use Model side at all. ;)

Oh, sorry; I was just answering Burnart's question as a general question... I don't have the Luuv plug-in; what does it do?

LUUV plugin is the OBJ format importer/exporter for trueSpace, but it's a tS 5.x plug-in... so you have to load it in model side to use it.

Which means the bridge has to be turned on to import the file on model side and have it show up in Workspace side. But once imported, it can be saved into the WS library. So it's more of an inconvenience than a serious issue.

But when TS drops the bridge and Model side (which is legacy) in an eventutal future version (hopefully sooner rather than later! :p ), it will be needed to have OBJ import/export on WS side anyway.

The LUUV plugin is "THE" Obj format importer/exporter and thank god its "there". Its a shame that the object format is so low on the TS to do list...

The built in importer I do not want to use at all.

Wouldnt we not have LUUV some of us would be stuck ! It works reeealy slow

but reeeeaaaly well

:)

So NO no more bridge (just for that ) please !

I would love obj import with uv's too native on the workspace side. I use blacksmith 3d to paint my models and use obj import and export for it. I don't mind doing it through the model side too much but prefer everything on workspace side.
