I would like the ability to use cameras more easily in trueSpace. I find the current implementation like entering a cat rodeo with silly string.

The ability to precisely place cameras with dialog boxes and mini maps of the assembled areas would be great.

Having the ability to name cameras and having that selection available by a quick click in render options without having to go back and constantly "fiddle" with the camera view would be great.

Having target acquisition devices that help with smooth tracking of cameras would be a superb addition.

I can think of more, but the current way of utilizing cameras in trueSpace is a lot kludgey and frustrating.

Yeah, count my voice in as well.

Camera navigation, positioning, and tracking are all things that I'd like to see improved too.

Some of what you want can be done with the amazing FindCamera plugin on Model Side and Stan's superb workspace equivalent available in the Garage forum.

The FindCamera plugin is, quite frankly, a god send and I struggled without it. Why this functionality has never been built in as standard is a mystery to many.

Just a button to click which provides a list of views to choose from - accessible not just from the tool bars but from the render requester itself.

Targeting could be simply the ability to load in visible but none rendering target objects which again could be selected by a dialogue of some kind rather than in a 3d work window so that you could have multiple targets and assign different cameras to different targets quickly. Could even hook it up to dof as the focus plane position! All kinds of useful possibilities.

After watching some procedural animation video, I realized some of this can be done in the Link Editor.

Which brings me to the question why sophisticated camera control was never brought to the fore to the user.

I see how target acquisition is done, the yaw, pitch and etc and be precisely controlled and there is even a selection of camera view points available.

It is there to be done, but wondering why this was never entered as feature in the final product. There are a lot more artists using tS than geek/artists (no offense.)

I'm totally with you on this one James. It's not a functionality issue, since it's clearly do-able as you point out. It's a UI issue. If TS is going to be user friendly these things need to be easily and intuitively accessible from the built in user interface.
