Like in Blender :

Normals -->

"Recalculate outside" or

"Recalculate inside"

Just stole from blender source :)

there are some tools in truespace where you can flip faces

like the "select object and flip faces" tool.

Yes, but it is not automatic you can select each polygon to result. Blender is cabalbele for it 1 second.

as far as I know (can just remember that I used this tool for one or two objects
I had imported from silo)
the tool does swap all faces that are in the same direction,
you don't need to select all of them.
There is just one direction of normals and if some faces of your object are black,
means in the wrong direction, this tool does swap it with one click.
I see no way to make it more easier.

I guess every modeling tool has this feature, mostly called flip normals or union normals.

Yes I agree. And I go on the testing and I acknowlidged Blender is not perfect too.
