Here is my feature suggestion list for ts 8
I want the following, please:
1. Nurbs (just like the nurbs tools on the model side, also with "convert to...", where you can select what to convert the nurbs to. SubD's and polygons as options)
2. A path library, along with the tool that is on the model side, something like "convert nurbs curve to path".
3. Water tools for making waves, ripples, and splashes in meshes that have more than just a few polygons, because the meshes used as water will need a lot of polygons in order to make the simulation run correctly, or the way you want it to. Maybe 1000 polygons could be a minimum for the water mesh, which the user chooses, so any mesh could be water. I would also like the water tools to have a gravity property, so you could have pouring liquid.
4. Cloth that's interactive through the use of the Run Simulation and Phys Move tools, and is keyfamable, and that has proper collision with animated objects. I don't know if the cloth features can already do those things, so I just put that there in case they can't.
5. A plant library, and a "make custom plant tool", with properties such as width, height, and depth (for stems, and leaves), custom flower petal mesh, access to the ME for using alpha channals and textures/colors/bump maps etc. with all parts of the custom plants, Petal curl, leaf curl, stem bend, leaf bend, fruit size, fruit clustering, number of fruits, number of leaves, Fruit (check box) where the user specifies the mesh for the fruit, and the plants could be keyframed too, so the user could animate fruits appearing on flowers after the user animates the blooming stage of the flowers.
Oh, and one more thing I forgot: Please, I want the Material Editor that is on the model side to be on the workspace too, not in a panel like it is now, and I want all the ME buttons to be in the ME, just like on the model side.
I know i'm asking a lot of Caligari, but I think it will be worth it to wait if we get the features we want in version 8.:)
Thanks! |

Hi Tamtam, I totaly agree with you in all your asks for new features!
But if you are interested in mesh water I did some work with procedural mesh!
It's not so real, but it is better than nothing! Take a look on the thread:

Oh my gosh, that's so impressive!:)
Maybe you could write a tutorial about making that procedural water mesh. I would definitely have a look at that if you could post it here (.zip format please). Please write how you made it, please, because I have the wave generator demo, but it only works on the model side, I think.
So you agree with me about my feature suggestions too. That's great!:) If I have more people to agree with me about those features, maybe those features will actually get in TS version 8 when that's made. |

@Rich - What's Camera Mapping? Is it something like applying a texture to a mesh, but applying the texture to the camera's view instead? |

Wow Rich.. now I wish I took some pictures of a cemetary near our first apartment in Nashua NH... we moved away from there a few years ago.
The cemetary was *Ancient* man! Some of the tombs were tilted over; very old cemetary. Very spooky to walk through. There was also an old school house in the same place. 1800's I think... wow. |

@ivampretti - That is so awsome ivampretti! I have no clue how to do that water effect, though I did look at your files in TS 7.6, and I hope you will some day be able to write that water effect as a plugin for TS8, when or if that will be released. That would be very cool (I mean having your water script or plugin in TS8...you would be an extremely popular TS user then)!:) Thanks for showing me your water script.
@Rich - That sounds cool!:) Doesn't TS already have some form of projecting images from lights and cameras though? I thought there was something like that shown in a TS 7.5 video a while back (the video was from Caligari I think, not someone like me). |

Tamtam, glad that you liked! Any question just write it on the tread. And popularity is something that interest me a lot :D:D:D |

@ivampretti - maybe I should have worded what I said differently: You are starting to get popular already, I think, because I saw all the people saying great things about your work. They are praising you for it! Isn't that great... you are popular... and you are getting noticed a lot for your water simulation in ts! Great job, and thanks for showing everyone the water simulation that you made!:jumpy: |
