tS7 rocks!

However, I seem to be getting the following consistent errors, even after a clean install (and please forgive me if these have already been mentioned in the forums):

1. When using some of the LW shaders in the stack in Player mode, I find that they display properly in real time but don't render properly using LW. For example, the "Toon" shader image looks OK in Player but is totally black in Model, and it renders solid black. Using LE, I changed the "outline" color away from black and the model and render images followed suit (but no "toon" effect). Fortunately, there is a complete "toon" library in SLW that works. Other shaders, like "Gooch" look OK in Player but give solid color renders, always in LW. If LW can render these shaders in Player in real time, why doesn't it process them properly using the Render engine? SLW seems to work fine.

2. The Create NormalMap tool in Player is really cool. However, it seems to activate on either a left or right click. Shouldn't the right click only bring up the options panel in stack view?. This "feature" causes repeated applications if you want to change the options after trying it once. Fortunately, UNDO works with this tool.

3. On the Tool Bar icon flyout, there are no 2D images (icons) only a 1D menu (words). That's fine but the last item on the flyout (Render) has a long tooltip that refers to something else.

4. It would be nice if the icon finder worked with all the icons in Model and Player, or if there was a separate finder for Player. I keep looking for icons and thinking they're missing when they're not.

These are my nits. I've had a couple of tS7 program hangups, but only after complex and uncoordinated operations. For me, none of them are repeatable except those already mentioned in the forums.

LW shaders are converted to player DX shaders. If you check LE, there are some material nodes that cannot be entered - these are materials that are synchronized with modeler. Conversion from DX shaders to LW shaders is not possible due to some problems (performance & complexity issues). This is similar as with other renderers - for example vray & LW shaders are also not compatible but some small subset will give very similar results...

We will release patch very soon that solves some hangup issues in material transfer & libraries and other (thread conflicts).

Tomas,

Thanks for the explanation. I understand now why somebody asked if there was a way to capture and use the output display from Player.

By the way, the LE is phenomenal! It's fun to play with now, and I'm sure it will gain even more utility with time. It increases the sophistication of tS7 over tS6.6 by an order of magnitude. My compliments to all of you for working so hard on my Christmas present!

(for Alien, thanks for the response -- we are not alone...)Yeah, well, the more people that vote, the better our chances of convincing them to change it, so go ahead & vote! (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=70) :)
