This is my first attempt at joining in on the monthly model contest...:jumpy:

I thought a castle would be easy... wrong..

Your basic shapes are ok. it';s just the textures that make it look the way it does. Try a smaller bump, and maybe larger map. If your UV is set to 10, try making it half that at 5 just to see what happens. Don't be afraid to experiment with what you have.

I agree with Kena, also you could try adding a layer of like clouds or some other procedural shader set to mostly transparent to break up the repeating look.


If you have an image editor just tone down the contrast a little and make sure not to lighten the texture too much.


If you don't have an image editor, then check out Paint.net. Paint.net is free and has a hell of lot more useful utilities than Microsoft paint.

a very inexpensive solution is to use the gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) which is free.
