There's a possibility that I'm doing something wrong so if I am would someone please let me know cos I can't find it in the manual. If not, then there's an error in the snapping settings...
Scale - you can't set 0.(anything). Well, you can set it but then the scale tool won't work properly. You have to set it to 1.(whatever) to get 0.(whatever). Essentially 1=0, you have to add 1 to whatever setting you really want. Surely that's wrong. It's taken me two evenings to figure this out!
Also, you can tab through all the Move and Rotate settings but as soon as it gets to the end of the rotate box it won't continue on to Scale, you have to click that manually. Shouldn't it rotate through all nine settings? |

remember this is scale, you can do things like 0.5 . 1 = scale of 1 .
yes the tab access needs fixing..:rolleyes: |

Sorry, don't understand what you mean. If I want to scale in .1 increments I can't enter 0.1 as we have always done, it now has to be 1.1. Therefore, essentially, making 1 the new zero! |

size matters, but not in truespace 7.x
look at the new object panel, make sure you have an object selected then delete it, there will be a 1,1,1 for scale..not 0,0,0
I realize what you mean when you say 1 is the new 0, but really its not when talking scale
that must effect the snap tools too. they work like the old fabulous expando.tsx..the old snap tool just crashes on me every time I try to use it to compare[in every version of ts I have installed] but it probably used size so 0 was 0
yes you must put 1.1 to move .1, but you can put numbers like .5 but they don't give a result of .5
bring back size :rolleyes: |

I can modify scale to behave like this:
input scale = 1
step = 0.5, output scales: 1/2, 1/1.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, ...
step = 1, output scales: 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...
step = 2, output scales: 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, ...
step = 3, output scales: 1/6, 1/3, 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, ...
will this be better? |

in 7.5 the behavior is like this:
when you create unit cube and scale it with step set to 2 you will get sizes:
1,2,4,8,.... 2^n (0.5,0.25 when scaling down).
this behavior can be changed so that unit size box will have scale:
1,2,4,6,.... 2*n (1/2n when scaling down).
edit: added video showing new behavior (rar-ed avi, xvid codec). |

Thanks for your time Thomas. Yes, the second option is, as far as I'm concerned, far better and more logical. Certainly as a modeller rather than a mathematician!
Now, if we can just have 0.1 back meaning 0.1 rather than 1.1 as originally mentioned I'll be extremely happy! :-)
Thanks for your time, it is appreciated. |
