I have to return to Vray 1.51 :( because of this transparent shadows bug (see the picture). Renered both from model side with bridge off and from WS with bridge on with the same result. In the scene: GI transparent shadows on, one inf light with shadow as the sun. First cube - floor. Second cube for solid shadow (wall). Fird cube - any model side transparent shader as a glass. The part of the glass located completely in the wall solid shade area produces shadow from the inf. light and the part "in the open sun" does not. It was correct in the previous Vray.

Already reported in various threads in tech, bugs, and rants and raves.

I see complaints (Vray forums) about a render problem which sounds something similar to this from users of other applications that use Vray so it might be a Vray problem not a Caligari problem

mmh, never saw such a similar problem in other vray versions (at least for Max ; can't say for sure for Rhino plugin).

But parva, your render looks like you are not using transparent shadows...

Yes that's it Prodigy

There's the black edge to the glass too, so there are no internal reflections

Well whatever the cause for this, an official comment by Caligari would be greatly appreciated, as to what the status is on any pending fix / patch release.

It does but you have to activate the "affect shadows" button in the refraction channel of Max/Vray materials.

Transparent shadows itself just activate the colored shadows (if used). Otherwise the shadow will be grey.

Sounds weird but I haven't programmed it :D

Roman, Betatesting team: any news on this?

It's not too fun to fire up Vray with this bug.

No news Leif - thought I would say that so you know we have seen your posts and are not missing them or ignoring them. The bug is reported, is in the beta cycle along with other bugs (and has been since it first showed up here on the forums), but nothing we can release about timelines for when you will see a patch or fix (as per the usual policy regarding discussing future releases).

Naturally it will be "as soon as possible" but I can't give any indication of how soon (or not ) that might be.

HTH,

Tom

No news Leif. Discussion of beta testing items is always off limits until release is imminent.

Thank you again Tom.

It is not likely that I buy upgrade so I am not interested in beta news really..

But since I actually have paid for something that does not work as advertized I am more interested in a fix (than an upgrade that may have more bugs because of new features).

Every product, free or otherwise, goes through beta - the development of new code and the testing of it. That would mean you are interested in a feature that will start life in beta - and by extension of that, both a free fix or a paid upgrade are not discussed until release is imminent.

Tom,

That seems fair.

Certainly hoping it's a free update. I know that a lot of people are waiting on it.
