Today I received some pictures from my friend who cannot run trueSpace7.5 trial on a very powerful computer. He would like to buy full trueSpace7.5 with V-Ray for interiors renderings. All information about his computer and error message screen are on attached zip file. I tried to find a similar bug report in this forum. I did not find it and so I hope that it could be solved.

Easy, it's because he's running 64-bit XP so there is a problem initialising the Open GL sub-system.

The fix is in this thread:

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2113&page=2

The text for the fix is copied below. It mentions tS7.11 but the same goes for the trial:

If you check your trueSpace7.11 installation directory in the ts/scripts folder, you will find a file called init.js. This file has a loading scenario for opengl, which we can turn off, by commenting out one of the lines of code. We can comment the whole line by using // at the beginning. You can load the file in notepad to edit. Use notepad's Edit/Find and search for:

14640977-24EE-4A07-8028-EDFED6E0E3EE

It is a ways down the init.js file, but when you find that line, place the // at beginning/left of the line. Save the file, being careful to save it as init.js and not init.txt. When you go to save the file, use the "type" dropdown list to change it to "All Files". Once you have completed the save, restart trueSpace7.11.

Thank you very much. I already informed my friend about your replay and so I hope he can run trueSpace7 in a very short time.

We could not find a row with 14640977-24EE-4A07-8028-EDFED6E0E3EE string for editing. There are several rows with similar strings. We need more information for editing of init.js file.

I'd suggest you contact support then.

Does your friend have a dedicated 3d card that supports DX 9.0c? You may also want to update the GFX drivers.

Thank you for your help. I think that graphic card is OK. You can find the result of DirectX Diagnostic Tools on one of attached pictures.

I think I have to contact Caligari technical support.

I have suddenly developed this ["failed to initialize kernel subsystem"] fault.

I am using Vista with an ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 (Dell).

I have tried all the suggestions I can find in this forum.

Does anyone have any other ideas please?
