This is still happening and I know it happened in 7.51.

If you have truespace open and you lock your PC then unlock it then you get the rendering is temporarily unavailable.


Now in 7.51 switching to modeller and back corrected this (at least, I am sure it did) and it sort of does in 7.6. However, the scene looks dull and on further examination, shadows have stopped working. It turns out that the spotlights are no longer lighting the scene. I am using the default scene and using a sphere and cube with boolean operations.


If you then click on the spotlights again, it starts working.


I've tried switching to modeller and back again and it seems ok but you see the 'renderer....' message flashing briefly in the background before the scenes show, both ways.

This is caused by any situation that causes TS to loose it's DirectX contexts. It's a pain and the only reliable solution to the infamous gray screen of death "render fail" messages is to close and re-open TS. :mad: I sure hope that making the DX fail handling more robust is a priority for the next update.

The light thing is new though. Never saw that one in 7.5. Mind you it may have been a quirk as after I clicked on the lights and then tried again, it kept them. I know also closing and re-opening the view is better as switching to model lost the directx matierals.

I've seen spotlights "disappear" occasionally, its been reported as a bug, but no specific cause identified yet.

It was happening earlier with the boolean scene I attached WRT shadows. Every time I loaded and locked then unlocked, switched to model and back the lights would go out. Perhaps that would help...
