TS 7.6 would not open for me this afternoon. I would get the crash message and offer to send the report to Caligari. It was working fine this morning and seemed to close normally the last time I used it.

Rebooting the computer did not help.

Nothing was installed in the meantime and only used IE 7 to check the disaster on Wall St and play around with Corel Painter Essentials 4.

I uninstalled then reinstalled and things seem to be working again.

Is there some particular state or action that is known to cause this? And is there a workaround that does not involve reinstallation?

ive had a similar problem before, i had to delete 'default_layout.rsl' after screwing up the ui to get the ui back to default and on another occasion where it just crashed as it was starting up seemed to be caused by a error in the scene file it was trying to load at startup, so deleting 'default.ctx' fixed it.

If you (or Windows) updated your video drivers, some times that can cause crash on start up if it's not compatible with that particular driver version. 7.6 is very driver sensitive and "current" video drivers don't always work with it.

Thanks for the replies. I understand that drivers could be the culprit but perhaps not in this case because, AFAIK, I would know if a driver changed during the day and I had no problem running the re-installed program.

Since I am a new user, it is more likely that I put the environment in an atypical state. I had been fooling with some things deep in the LE before closing the project.

Glad to have the suggestions for deleting some of the initialization files. I will try this if it ever happens again.
