Imp for TrueSpace is an FBX import/export plugin for TrueSpace 7.6. It will also support 3DS, OBJ, Collada, and DXF. I will be posting more info here as I progress on the development.
I'm looking to charge $35 for the full version when it is completed. I will be releasing a geometry only "lite" version in the short term for $20 which purchasers will be able to apply directly toward the purchase price for the full version when it becomes available.
There's still a lot of development work to do and what I need from you guys is models to test the importer on. So this post is a call for models. ;)
You can attach them here in this thread or PM me and I'll give you an e-mail account that you can e-mail them to. Please make sure that anything you attach here is not copyrighted material. |

I can help you out here
Here are some 3ds Max version 7 objects for you. A landscape I made, and a stock Pawn from the tutorials.

ITS A TEST ! (LOL);)

Jack you want fbx nurbs file well i store the nurbs files in the 3dm file
and made a conversion for you in Rhino but i think that converts to polys
i send you a 3dm and the fbx file from it...
Try it and tell me if its any good !

Thanks Peter! Yeah no clue how you get Nurbs in an FBX file but the SDK supports it. Probably won't be implementing that section for a few days though. So far it's looking like it should be no problem supporting conversion of Nurbs mesh to polymesh during the importing, so will be useful to have FBX files with Nurbs in them. ;)
The cool thing is that if TS 8.0 gets Nurbs on workspace side, I'd actually be able to implement support for Nurbs without converting them. :) |

I can send you some geometry created from RealViz's products in Collada format (they were bought out by Autodesk, I'm not sure of the future of their product line) VTour, Image Modeler are the programs, they can save in a Collada format which is not standard (I can not find any programs that read it)... are you interested in taking a crack at them? I understand if you don't :D. Not much future in these programs anymore :)

The more flavors to test the better. The FBX SDK uses Autodesk's FBX loader to handle all the formats so it'll be interesting to see how robust it is. ;) |

This is a quickie Jack, I spent 0 time cleaning up the textures of this model. VTour can take a 2D image of something (you must shoot it in perspective) and thru some calibration techniques and some basic mo0deling by the user, you are able to make three-d models of the building(s), it can also do this with 360 degree panoramas also :) but you need to clean up textures for areas of the textures that are occluded. This particular image has a couple of those. but it is a good test for geometry and basic textures.
I can invert the y and z axis if that is something that would help...
