Someone had recently mentioned that if you can model a car you could model anything. Well at first I didn't believe it could be true but after very little thought I came up with reasons YOU CAN RENDER ANYTHING
Model Fur: Yep it's on the seat and hanging from the rear view mirror, Seat Covers and Furry Dice!
Model Feathers: Well there are Thunderbirds, SkyHawks, and the AMC Eagle to name a few.
Model Mud: Mudflaps!
Vocal Pipes kinda look like Exhaust Pipes
Blinkers vs. Flashers (with their raincoat)
Model a Model T vs Modeling Mr. T
You see Wheels on "Wheel Of Fortune"
Modeling Hair: Tough one I cannot figure out where hair is on a car. hmmmmm
note to Caligari "Cancel Hair development, you don't need it! It's NOT on a car"
Human Heads sometimes has hair but an Engine Head?...nope
Characters: useless things people tend to model when we can't model Automobiles:)

Have you forgotten 'hair'pin curves?
Someone has to drive the thing- the driver also should have some, maybe even flapping in the breeze out of the moonroof. I think you're covered!

I'd never really thought about modeling cars since I really wasn't interested in it. I'd always thought of a car is a car... That and what's the point in modeling something that already exists? Now concept cars and experimental vehicles that's different...

Of course seeing WickedWitch's new car... ;) Maybe I'll have to give that a try one of these days when I need a break from the organic stuff...

There are rumors floating around that MadMouse struggled with the descision on which side to put a steering wheel on his next project and he was forced to use a joystick! A joystick would look silly in a car so he designed a forklift instead.
He's currently in stable condition rendering toilets....
Shike knew his modeling skills weren't up to par so he took on elementary work and called it a Beast....
Wizard is developing his rudimentary skills and has actually obtained a "Modeling Level Scholar of Commercial Trucks" degree.. his next project is an AMC Rambler....
Why does Splinters need to know how to model a car when Pigs CAN fly....
It's been said Spacekdet has no use for a vehicle, is living in a cabin and has no knowledge about the price of gas......he does render a mean bike......but can barely remember what a car looks like.......he's reverted back to Organic Modeling.....
Hemulin is trying to kick the habit modeling vehicles and we have weaned him down to fan cars....I think there is still hope
The Wicked Witch of the Web used to Model clay characters in a padded cell. We lost her completely to Modeling Automobiles.

:D :D ROFL...stop it....you're killing me...:D :D

Gotta admit, with Harold's Bike, I felt the lure of the motor engine dragging me under but I resisted and assessed my work to be of little artistic merit.

I can now be found modelling pigs for hair conditioner adverts.....

I mostly agree with j_edwards, which is why the whole 'Learning New Things' thread starts with the words "I know the world needs another car render like it needs a hole in the ozone...". The whole purpose behind modelling the vehicle was a set goal to aid me in the learning of new tools, which I think I've done. In amongst the fun there seems to be a bit of a conflict going on between organic and mechanical (or, in this case, automotive). I fail to see the difference. Apart from the obvious end visual difference, the creation process is practically the same - you have a bunch of vertices and polygons and you push and pull them into the shape you want. Whether they end up looking like a car, an aeroplane, a mannequin or a squirrel the methods used to get to that point are all pretty similar. Or maybe I'm missing the point?

Just my two pence/cents/euros worth

And don't worry Steinie, I'm still in my padded cell and will be getting back to playing with clay soon!

You are spot on Kate and you have not missed anything...I guess this is a somewhat ironic response to a certain comment by a certain card modeller in your other thread...one that suggests the superiority of automobile modelling...never a good idea that...

Not itentionally. Though it does kind of say the same as the statement you refer to, maybe just in a tad more diplomatic fashion!

Mystery Master Car Modeler = MMCM
What came first the chicken or the car modeler? MMCM made it sound like you had to be the second one first. MMCM says "Once you can model a car, you can model anything." Oh sure just push around a few polygons and you have yourself a likeness of Mona Lisa.
I wasn't really after anyone I just wanted everyone to have a good laugh. It will always be a mistake to take my stuff too seriously!!! I do this stuff for fun. ;)

p.s. I only joked with certain people who showed me they have a great sense of humor!
