Norm,
Can't you turn off Displaying "Search Bots" all together? I know you can change Who's Online display to All, Members, Guest but can I just show Members and Guest with NO Bots? Their a pain in my Bot.
Right now I don't think there is an option to show Members AND Guest together. I could care less about the Bot population...their not considered "unique" visitors on the Caligari site are they?
Thank goodness they can't post!!!
p.s. and with Halloween coming it's funny the "Spiders" are considered "Guest"...no thanks I'll pass on your h'orderves. |

No way to "remove" them, so to speak.
I could remove ability for registered users to view who's online. Not sure that would be best. |

Remove bots is a bad word, hide is better. Hide the Bots.
Turning off the function to view other users would be like users turning on their "invisibility" mode at the old TSML... |

I know Bots and Spiders are necessary evils for Caligari. They help spread the word and bringing in new potential customers. So they would be nuts to get rid of them but they are an eye sore! I'm sure they know about the txt file that will slow them down. (?) There were 18 of them at once yesterday all considered "Guest" so the counts are getting skewed.
I hope everyone is also aware that what you say or do is also being indexed.
So I want to take this moment to apologize to my wife, kids, dog, neighbor, neighbor's wife, pork products, master's of 3d, master's of bathroom fixtures, Beast Masters, Tom G, Norm, Low Poly artist, and people that like pink (except Roman who is a demigod) for anything I might have said or did that might show up in a Google search (or video);) |

Steinie: I'm assuming you're talking about them being listed in the "who's online" page? If so, & if it really bothers you that much, get a copy of Proxomitron 4.5 (http://www.proxomitron.info/index.html) & install it & I'll make you a filter that will remove them from the list, though I don't think I can do anything about the number of guests listed on the main forum page.
BTW, whilst Proxomitron itself is a great prog, it's interface is not quite so great, but luckily there's a 3rd party patch for the UI here (http://www.xs4all.nl/~vsetten/prox/).
