There is no better reward then to be recognized when an effort is made spreading the word about trueSpace.
(Well ok a couple hundred dollars would have been cool) :D
To live up to the standards set by the current Gold Ambassadors will not be easy. I have always been in awe of their talents and good deeds to others.
Everyone knows my dedication to the Application and that is something I have in common with this group. Together we can rebuild the respect trueSpace deserves.
Thanks Roman, Tom, Caligari and Crew for this Banner. I am truly honored.
Thank you Forum members for making this place the best on the Web!
p.s. there are rumors that kissing my ring and turning into Frogs are related...

Congratulations Steinie! Definitely well deserved. :D
initiation starts at midnight...it may hurt. You don't have any hair to shave off do you??Hey, remember to make the bungee cord a bit shorter this time. We don't want a repeat of the last initiation. It's 190 feet exactly...we can't just round it off to 200 like last time. That didn't work so good.
Don't worry Steinie, I'm pretty sure we have it all worked out this time. :) |

way to go Bob!!!!! welcome to the club.
Well deserved my friend.
BTW I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the title of this thread.
In the UK this means something completely different.;)
Well it does if you have a mind like mine.
But I'm too polite to say what here :o
(I thought it was the masons that went in for that sort of initiation:D)
Congrats Mate.
Yet another logo to add to your ever expanding signature :D

Oh yeah.. a friend about croaked when I said something which in American is no more disturbing than 'knickers' is for Brits - he turned bright red and spluttered and began mouthing four-letterishly, while our other friend grinned evilly, saying calmly .. she didn't mean what you think she meant.. I just sat there dumbfounded for a few moments, and then doubled up and laughed 'til I cried :D
We imagine we speak the same language, but we don't, really - some words just don't mean the same 'cross teh pond...
I mean... I thought a 'trannie' was a transistor radio :p |

errrr is it too late to back out Tom?:D
ButterPaw and MadMouse, I still don't know what I said in "British England"-ish but I'm glad it was funny! I was really picturing a Monty Python/BlackAdder skit when I said it. Thank you for the nice compliments.
trueBlue, you had me laughingl Thanks. (just keep away from my Preeeeecious!):p
Dele, rope size doesn't matter, I used your shrinking machine, my wife wants a word with you ....
Splinters, it looks like you got the razor initiation and Dele got the growth hormone. Hmmmm tough choice.... There is a choice right?;)
Prodigy, Orange Fog.....your getting hungry, hungry......
Thanks again Tom! |

Thanks Dragneye!
3D Banner was embossed by Prodigy. When they first showed the new Silver and Gold Banners I commented that for a 3D Application Banner they should at least look 3D. Prodigy did a nice job improving it. |

gathering up the tattered remains of her dignity,
belatedly attempting to restore decorum

On the oddities of US versus UK English, I think it was Winston Churchill who said (or is rumored / rumoured to have said) when talking of America and Britain "Two nations divided by a common language" - referring of course to how the same language has become quite different in many ways.
As I have discovered, and continue to discover, with my move across the pond :) For instance with chocolate bars, a Milky Way is really a Mars Bar, while a 3 Musketeers is really a Milky Way, but a Twix is still a Twix. And there are no Mars Bars here.
Anyway, lots of fun things in this thread, great to have an international community too :)
Thanks!

I'm glad you like it Sir Robert, 'twas my pleasure.:D
Until you said that I hadn't noticed that on the image I had spelled Ambassador with an "E," but I've since corrected the brain lapse and replaced the image with a proper one befitting the seriousness of the occasion.:p
Congrats guy,;)

It took me a loooonng time to find out some things... When I sent my husband into town to buy molasses (long bumpy trip, and I was expecting) he was directed to the Feed Store .. ermmm ..... ^_^ Finally, when in the only supermarket in Nairobi, I asked what is molasses in English? and a nice lady filled me in 'oh, treacle! she said, and took me right to where it was. ...(I was also introduced to the delights of 'Golden Syrup'... oooooh) Once I knew.. a number of yummy recipes fell into place :D
But at least a twix is still a twix ;) |
