There was previously a panel on the right side with some render options including a dropdown menu to chose between lightworks and virtuaout. The sidebar is still there, but that particular panel is gone and I can;t figure out how to get back to it. Anyone know where it is? I can't figure out how to turn on radiosity or anything. I have objects that have light emission turned on, but they're not working (just rendering black). Right clicking on the render icon isn't doing squat either. The manual isn't helping me at all. This is EXTREMELY frustrating.

BTW, here's what my screen looks like. The preferences panel on the right is empty. I also can't figure out how to get back the panel on the bottom.

Why is there no reset button or any kind of menu on those panels??

I have included an image to show you what you can do, right click on the render icon, this can also be loaded via the file menu under preferences - render engine

Also clicking on the wrench icon in the stack window may bring the dialog box back as well.

If the rendering black thing is with VL set as your renderer, have a look in this thread (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=46&highlight=environment) & scroll down to my post. That might solve that prob.

As for getting the other stuff back - have you replaced/saved over your default layout in the Layouts library? if not, just click the Default tab up the top. That'll bring the LE window at the bottom back & may solve the other prob too.

BTW, please could you resize your image - the forum maximum is 800x600, though I don't personally mind as long as it's under 980 pixels wide - anything over that causes people with lower screen resolutions [i.e. me] to have to keep scrolling from side to side to read the text in the rest of the thread. [plus we have a few dial-up users as well, though luckily I'm not 1 of them]

Yes those will work as well, the radiosity button can be found to the right of the render icon in the top icon bar. See pic.

Also clicking on the wrench icon in the stack window may bring the dialog box back as well. When I click the wrench, there's nothing displayed in the pane below it. There had been previously, I think, but it's gone now. How do I reset that? Clicking Default reset the preferences tab, but not the tools tab.

Furthermore, even with radiosity turned on, I'm not getting light emitting from the objects with that option enabled. They appear light, but everything else in the scene is pitch black. I thought the whole idea was that the objects would emit light. How is that supposed to work, exactly?

I am not sure but from what I can see from your post. Change you Render Engine unless of course you want to render in virtuaLight. Click on the Hammer and Wrench Icon (Preferences) then Left click on the LE window, Right click on the Render Icon, and Left click 3DSpace window you will notice that it is Contex sensitive. Hope this helps. Sometimes you have to refresh Tools icon as well.

Hi Sean,

Can you reset you layout by clicking on the default tab at the top, then under preferences change your render engine to lightworks as radiosity as I belive it doesn't work with virtualight and see what happens. Perhaps you could post your scene file and maybe we can have a look to see what is going on exactly.
