Hi. I'm in the market for a new software program. Been a long time Bryce user but it's time I got a real 3D app :)

Anyway, I'm evaluating a number of programs. Truespace 7 being one of several. Problem is, where's the demo? I'm also confused about what I read in these forums. Sounds like ver 7 is only partially finished with a modeller side which I gather is still Truespace 6.6 essentially and you do your work with this and your models etc gets transferred over to the new player side. So does this mean I'll need to pay again for 7.5 or 8 to get a finished program? What's the time frame for all tools to be transferred over? This year? Next year?

Some of the other programs have free video tutorials either on the company site or there's user sites with these on. Where's the Truespace ones? I find watching someone in the know a good way to help evaluate a program as well as playing with the demo.

Thanks.

No demo for 7 yet, but you can always give 6.6 Demo a whirl while you wait.

It's Here. (http://forms.caligari.com/ts5demo/form_download.asp?adsource=&v=TS66)

If you like 6.6 then you'll probably be able to adapt to 7 if you decide to purchase it. It takes a beefy computer to run 7 so that should enter into your decision- be sure to look over the recommended specs.

I can't really answer your questions about what will be included or when it will be released but I'm certain it won't take until next year.

'Soon' is the official answer. It's a brand new, infinitely extensible core in 7 and the developers are still working hard to complete and extend the toolset.

Caligari has tuts for sale, but each course also has one 'freebie.'

You can poke around (Here) (http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts5/Courses/gettingstarted_tS7.asp?Cate=Fundamentals#) and see the different courses, currently divided into 'Fundamentals' and 'Master' series. Look for the free entries in red.

The Lunadude site (Here) (http://www.lunadude.com/) is another good place to begin your search for tutorials and tS related resources. Renderosity has a trueSpace community area that also hosts a few.
