Hello, I am a traditional Illustrator wanting to learn how to use Truespace but haven't a clue where to start. A friend gave me a disk from the 3D World Interactive magazine with a full working version of Truespace 4.3. The tutorial shows you how to build and render a Harley davidson type motorcycle, but Its' too advanced for me just now. Please Is there basic help I can get to get me started?

Sincerely

Tom

The tS3.2 resources are a great place to start - links there lead to free tutorials for all levels:

The best bet here in the forums is to ask specific questions when you are trying to do a specific thing - 3D is so huge no one can tell you all of it, and so "Where do I start" is too big a question :)

Do you want to make characters? Cars? Simple cubes? Landscapes? Animations or stills? What have you tried to make so far, and at what point did you get stuck?

Or try following one of the tutorials above, and post in here and say "I was following tutorial X and I got to the point where it says to do Y, but I don't understand" - then people can tell you all about Y and what it does.

So fire away with specific questions, and you'll find plenty of people here willing and able to answer!

Just a few tips:

- Have something specific in mind to model, not too complex but not too simple either. You don't want to get frustrated right out of the gate, but simple can be boring.

- On the other hand; start with a primitive shape, sphere, square, etc, and warp it, divide it, and anything else you can think of to see what can be done with the controls - and RIGHT CLICK EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! Many of the icons or buttons have secondary functions or specific parameters that can be adjusted.

- One thing to point out in any, repeat "ANY" entry box (where you enter numbers manually as opposed to using a slider) you MUST hit [ENTER] or otherwise exit the entry field before the new number takes effect.

- Use the help files and manual.

- SAVE FREQUENTLY!!!!

- Don't be afraid to ask questions here in the forums. You'll usually get more answerers than you bargained for.

Welcome to tS!
