What makes this program different from other. The company and i are trying to find a good program to make garage cabinets with. Is there any pros or cons to using this program compared to another program? We might also be looking for someone who is good with this program to make cabinets sets on the side.

Thanks a lot guys!!

A good comparison of features is here:

http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/Brochure/Comparison_tables.asp?Cate=BProducts&SubCate=ComparisonTables

Based on what you mention, the prime differences that would be relevant (ie not things like animation which would extend the list) are

1. Ease of use with the tools and interface, allowing anything from CAD accuracy to artistic "freehand"

2. Online shared spaces for collaborative work (accessible by clients via free truePlay viewer)

3. Best real-time viewer of any 3D modeling software, saving time on test renders (or even saving time on final renders)

4. In-build Node based or scripting based development for custom functionality (I could see various custom tools or widgets being useful since you have such a specific end product). Scripting uses jscript and vbscript and not a proprietary language, making it easier to learn

5. GI / HDRI rendering for high quality, photo real offline renders

HTH!

Ditto, can't really help without knowing what a garage cabinet is.

You can see many of our cabinets there, we are trying to find a good program to use to design new kits that we could post up on the site. Or even finding a person with experience in doing these to do them on the side.

That's the stuff-organizer accessories. Like closet organizers, only bigger.

There are many different computer aided design programs, tailor made for many different things. What is your budget? How soon do you plan on investing? Do you intend to do more than design cabinets for garages? The range in price goes from free to many thousands of dollars. Some have extensive libraries of pre-made objects available in the standard program and/or add-ons which may or may not be freely downloadable. Your needs should be used to help determine which software to obtain with the available budget .

HEY!!! I used your site to give me some ideas on my latest W.I.P. !

I didn't want to model an actual tool Chest, but wanted it in the same dimensions as one in my local tire garage. Offsetting the wheels and the handles of the drawers were Ideas I got from your site as well as other sites.

Here is the end of my WIP if you want to see how easy it is to model this kind of object.

My weakest point with modeling is textures, but you can definitely see an example of what you are looking to do.

Looking at those, there are quite a few users around here capable of making them to order (the cad model that is) and tS is more than capable. If you would have to learn tS first and need this quick you might be better off paying someone to do them for you. That way you get the digital assets to use as you wish. Ideally you would own tS as well so you can simply arrange the models/repaint as you need rather than learning to model.

I could do this for you but it depends on your budget. Your best bet would be to decide what you need then ask for tenders from users here and get the best combination of price and quality.

Of course, this is a very helpful forum should you decide to make them yourself.

Good luck either way.
